Percy's P.O.V

Artemis led me into her tent.

"We'll be able to speak in private in here. Tell me what happened." She commanded. I told her all about the wolf and my new powers. She paced around, muttering to herself. A horn rang from somewhere in camp and we both froze.

"What was that?" I asked her.

"The attack signal." She replied and ran outside. I followed her and froze. The smell of monsters overwhelmed me.

"Monsters." I said and ran in their direction. At the edge of the forest line was a group of monsters. Almost fifty of them. They outnumbered the hunters by three to one. And guess who was leading the tiny army?

If you guessed my old buddy the minotaur then you're completely correct.

I stopped in front of him and bared my teeth threateningly.

"Stop. You will not go any further." I snarled at him.

"Why are you protecting the godlings? They have killed hundreds of your kind. Join us." Beefhead said in a deep, husky voice. Wait a second, I can understand monster now?

"You mistake me for one of your kind. My name is Percy Jackson." I grinned wolfishly as beef head realised who I was. Unease spread through the group. I sensed movement and jumped to the side. A huge double-bladed battle axe impaled the ground on which I was standing on a few seconds ago.

"Still using that same weapon?" I asked the minotaur. He bellowed in anger and charged.

"You never learn, do you?" I said and jumped out of the way. When his back was turned I leapt. I clamped my jaws on his wrist and bit down. With a strangled yell he let go of his weapon and I lunged at his throat. Golden dust replaced his body. Then I attacked the rest. I killed dozens but they had me surrounded. A whistling sound filled the air and dozens of silver arrows fell from the sky. Finally, some help. Most arrows hit their mark and monsters here and there turned into dust.

'Percy.' I heard Artemis' voice in my head.

Am I going crazy?

I heard laughter.

'Don't be stupid. Gods can speak to people in their minds.' She said.

Oh. I totally knew that.

'Anyway. Thanks for holding them off while we came.' Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Thalia slicing up a Dracaenae with her hunting knives. I glared at a cyclops and he burst into flames. He fell back, crushing monsters underneath him. Soon there were no more monsters left. I yelped as something hit my shoulder. A burning pain ran through my arm and I saw a silver arrow sticking out of my shoulder. I looked up to see my attacker. Surprise surprise, it was Thalia. She aimed her bow at me again.

"Thalia stop." Artemis commanded her.

"But, mi'lady-"

"Thalia. Stand down. This is the new guardian of the hunt."

♣□◆ Hello! It's me for the first disclaimer of the book! I hope you have been enjoying it so far. I have decided to start asking a question at the end of each chapter. The first person to get it right has the next chapter dedicated to them. I hope you like it. ◆□♣

"With great power...comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later."
