Soon, the sun hovered above the line on the horizon. Philip leads the others, while Denis follows from behind. With the map in his hands, Philip pauses and says the totem might be inside the cave before them. So they enter, their vision adjusting against the darkness.
Denis, Harris, Chloe, Philip, Meredith, Presley, and Felix encounter crystals and gems with hanging vines as they navigate the labyrinthine cave system. Gazing at the glowing gems, Denis' eyes sparkle with admiration. He has never seen such beauty before. So pretty, Denis mused. They're like the angels for ordinary stones.
Later, they find themselves entering a bigger chamber. There, they see a stone in the centre, glistening as there is a hole atop the ceiling where the sunlight enters. They venture inside quietly, but Harris alarms them that there is danger. Glancing from left to right, Denis sees no hazards and proceeds to grab the totem. He should've listened to Harris this time, however.
As Denis grabs the totem and hides it in his sling bag, a long, gigantic stone-like serpentine rouses from its slumber and appears before everyone. Presley hastens forward and pushes Denis aside before the serpentine can bite them. Denis releases a piercing shriek as he and Presley fall to the side.
"It's a stone wyrm!" Philip yelled, catching the wyrm's attention.
Immediately, the stone wyrm began to crawl towards Harris, Chloe, Philip, Meredith, and Felix.
Denis mistakingly heard Philip, prompting his eyebrow to snap upward. "A worm...?"
Did that thing ever look like a worm to you, Denis?
"No, a wyrm. W-Y-R-M," Presley corrected him. "They are found deep within caves and are close relatives to dragons."
"Great, we're facing another dragon," Denis sighed.
Harris, Philip, and Meredith snatch their swords and lunge in different ways. Then, separating from each other and confusing the wyrm, they attack and stab the threat. However, their swords instantly shatter against the wyrm's thick, stone-like skin. Harris tries climbing the wyrm and stabs the wyrm on its head, but his blade splits. Then, he falls and is about to get bitten by the wyrm.
In a panic, Felix hurriedly snatched a wooden branch from his pocket, pointing it towards the stone wyrm. "Luxus Splendidus!" Felix chanted, casting a spell. Then, a bright ray of light blasted towards the wyrm's eyes, blinding it momentarily. While the wyrm was stunned, Felix pointed his wand-like branch at Harris' broken sword and chimed, "Romus pel eickordaro a brillar, liu vjorm vifuer mos to skath muar!"
With the fluid motion of a gleaming spear, Harris's sword extended and unfurled. Transformed through the intricate weave of magic, the blade gleamed with a brilliance that surpassed its former glory, exuding an aura of renewed vigour and potency. Truly a sight to behold, a tangible manifestation of the mystical arts at work.
"Quickly! Slay that thing!" Felix urged.
In a decisive move, Harris seizes his revitalized sword and leaps with agile precision above the towering wyrm. With a resounding strike, he plunges the blade deep into the creature's skull, delivering a fatal blow that sent tremors through the beast's massive form. As the wyrm succumbs to the mortal wound, everyone scrambles to a safe distance, instinctively evading the collapsing behemoth. Then, the ground quivers beneath their feet.
