A remake of the Old one!

After the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453, the Byzantine survivors flee and embarked on a long journey across the vast Atlantic Ocean. In 1456, they finally set foot on a massive new land, a world completely unknown to them. Choosing to settle there, they established the Empire of Elysia. This new empire flourished under its first emperor, Andreas I, founding the Marenovian Dynasty after the last of the Palaiologos line had passed away.

The Elysians solidified their control over the new land, inadvertently introducing diseases that nearly decimated the native population. Despite this, they proceeded to colonize the territory, constructing new cities, with the capital, Nova Constantinopolis(Néa Konstantinoúpoli), emerging as the first major metropolis. By 1486, Emperor Andreas I had passed away, and his son, Emperor Avinerion I, took the throne. His rule was marked by aggressive expansion, the imposition of Christianity, and the Hellenization and Romanization of the lands, often through violent means, including mass genocide of the native populations.

Elysian ships sailed south to colonize the Caribbeaus, islands located below their mainland colony of Novaroma. Their efforts proved fruitful, leading to further expansions to neighboring lands and islands. Subsequently, conflicts arose with the Aztecs, resulting in a decisive victory for the Elysians, who annexed the Aztec territories into their expanding empire. The Mayans, on the other hand, reluctantly joined Elysium after their ruler sent his daughter to marry Emperor Avinerion I.

Elysium continued its westward expansion, encountering diverse regions and climates. Some regions were named after ancient cities from Rome or Byzantium, such as Nova Thessalonika, located 781 kilometers southwest of the capital. Concurrently, the Elysians rapidly militarized their empire, drawing parallels to ancient Sparta. They conquered numerous tribes, while others joined Elysium out of fear of destruction.

In 1492, the Elysians encountered a European for the first time when Christopher Columbus mistakenly landed in what he believed to be a Portuguese port in India, which was actually the Elysian Port City of Justineanus. Columbus was detained, interrogated, and released four days later. Relations between Spain and Elysium quickly soured as Spain began colonizing what they called America, or South Novaroma to Elysia.

Elysia became more aggressive in expanding its empire, eventually reaching the west coast of Novaroma and conquering tribes in the region. They also extended their control over the cold north of Novaroma. Relations between Elysium and Spain remained tense, with both empires on the brink of war. News spread in Europe about an empire in the New World that seemed to be Greco-Roman in all aspects.

In 1521, shortly after the death of Emperor Avinerion I, the Spanish attacked the Port City of Justineanus, initiating the First Spanish-Elysian War. The Spanish, led by Hernán Cortés, captured the city, killing 342 Elysian soldiers while losing 110 of their own, as the Elysians were unprepared for the sudden invasion.

News of the attack quickly reached the Elysian Senate, prompting them to crown Aurelius I, a brutal, genocidal, yet cunning and prodigious leader. Under his reign, Elysium would experience a military golden age, humiliating the Spaniards to such an extent that their relations would never recover.

Two months after the attack, Spanish conquistadors managed to conquer half of the island of Kubus, or "Cuba" as the Spanish called it, with only 89 casualties out of 500 men. Before Spanish reinforcements could arrive, 30,000 Elysians launched a counterattack, forcing the Spanish to retreat back to Justineanus. During the retreat, Cortés was killed by a flaming arrow. The Elysians seized Spanish weapons, including rifles, which they reverse-engineered. They also incorporated knowledge from Turkish cannons that had destroyed Constantinople, further enhancing their military capabilities.
