Malia nervously awaited the arrival of the daughter of her father's cousin, wondering why the sudden meet up was necessary.
It was fairly urgent and Malia didn't know what to make of it. Was it bad news? Malia didn't know how she'd react if it were bad news.
What was so important that it couldn't be said over the phone?
Her thoughts did a factory reset when she saw the young woman walk into the restaurant. She'd seen her so many times before but it was much more awkward this time. Especially when Malia had no idea what it was for.
"You're confused."
Malia cocked up an eyebrow. "You can tell?"
"I know you, Malia." Renee said, sitting her purse down. "I know you a lot better than you think."
"That's a lie if I've ever heard one."
The other woman smirked. "You've heard lies. Your childhood was full of them."
Malia cut her eyes at the woman, thinking of the baby in her stomach then about her lightweight her own fist felt at the moment. The girl in front of her was testing her but why?
"You have 2 minutes to tell me what you want or-"
"Or what?" Renee asked. "Or you'll fight me while you're pregnant. Surely Malia wouldn't put another baby of hers into harms way."
Her mouth fell open and she sat back. "How the hell do you know so much?"
"It was easy actually." She said. "The friend of yours, Jaren? Or kind of your friend. Saw him in a bar a few weeks back. Poor baby was so drunk and just wouldn't shut up about you."
"What the hell do you want?" Malia mugged her, standing up. "I'll fuck you up and won't think twice about it. And if I find out you so much as touched Jaren, consider yourself done for."
Renee smirked. "Well it's too late for that. I've laid a finger, a toe, and so much more on your little boyfriend number 2."
"You hurt him?"
"Nope." Renee said, standing.
She snatched Malia closer by her hand, flashing her a sweet smile. Malia was so taken aback that all she could do was stand there and stare at this woman.
"I've been here watching you way longer than you could think. I know everything." Renee gritted. "As long as you have Ja and Jaren on each arm, you're done for."
Malia smirked. "Is this about Jaren? Cause he isn't even my boyfriend. Not even close. So you look silly, girlfriend."
"You wish like hell this was about Jaren." She whispered back. "Sit down."
Malia shoved the girl away. "Sitting down is not happening. What do you want?"
"I'm sick." The woman spat out. "Okay?"
"Bullshit."
"I'm serious and I need your help." Renee said. "I need your help."
"Go to hell."
Renee sighed. "You need to understand that I'm not playing right now. I need a kidney transplant and you're gonna be the one to give it to me."
Malia crossed her arms. "You come in here and start talking shit to me now you want my help?"
"I wasn't asking."
"Try me." Malia gritted, preparing to walk away.
Renee grabbed Malia's arm, pulling her to where their faces were millimeters apart. Malia was confused and hurt and so many other things. She was more offended than anything.
