To blow off some steam I decided to get on the Internet, surfing the web always seems to calm me. Theres just something about reading everyone elses misery that gives me a sick sense of satisfaction. I wonder around on Facebook liking people's status' here and there. When a stupid add pops up. I hate ads! I grunt in frustration, moving the mouse to the X in the top right corner right as I'm about to push it I notice the title, it reads 'Education Commends You.'
Being the nosy and curious Kerri that I am I read on noticing it's an exchange program for the 'underprivileged.' I laugh at the wording. Wow must be some rich crackers that wrote this shit. I click the link and it sends me into a bunch of reading I finally reached the application. I didn't bother asking my parents. I filled it out easily knowing everything they were asking for.
Location, Social Security Number, Birth Date, E-mail just the usual stuff I guess. I click the send button not even knowing why I filled the stupid thing out to begin with, a reject like me getting accepted into a private school? For free too. Ahh hell who cares? I gotta one in a million shot. I'll take my chances.

"Why the hell did you even fill the damn thing out?" Jay asked. He had been flippin out the past week about the application to Brook Wood. Today was the day my acceptance, or rather rejection letter was coming in the mail. He thought I would definitely get accepted but he didn't want me going to live in Hollywood. Especially not by myself.
"I don't know bro." He shook his head and we didn't say much the rest of the walk home. Turning the corner on 6th street I saw the mailman driving away from our block. My heart began to beat faster and faster until I could hear it in my ears. I suddenly tensed up.
"Common." Jay whined pushing me towards it. I sighed standing in front of the mailbox I lifted my hand slowly wishing now that the stupid ad had never popped up!
"Jesus Christ Kerri." Jay complained opening the mailbox and pulling out five or six envelopes. Searching the names on them all he finally picked up the last one, handing it to me. It had my name scribbled across the surface perfectly. I ran my fingers across it. Then I stared down at it for what felt like forever not wanting to know what the inside held.
Jay rested his hand on my shoulder. I looked up looking at him, he nodded his head. I smiled in return, flipping it over and pulling it open to reveal a single sheet of paper folded in three. I un folded it scanning the letter with pure hope.
Dear Miss Stephen's,
We are proud to inform you that your application to Brook Wood Academy has been accepted. We could have never found a more fitted applicant. Your history with Basketball is impeccable. Not to mention your Straight A's and 4.0 GPA. We would be honored if you came to Hollywood and attended Brook Wood Academy. Looking forward to meeting you.
I stopped reading too excited for my own good. A smile formed on Jay's face as I glanced up at him. He laughed, causing me to laugh in return.
"Told you." He teased. Typical brother behavior. We walked up the steps and into our apartment that I might actually miss when I'm gone. I mean we do live in the 'ghetto' but I've lived here my whole life. There are so many memories in this place involving me Jay and Zack and now in two days I'll be in Hollywood, California thats.. just crazy.. right?
