Chapter 3 - Baby Problems Part 2

"Babe!"

Eloise and Blaine were just sitting while patiently waiting outside the pediatrician's clinic of Orejon Medical City Hospital for the baby's doctor's appointment. Alas-kwatro na sa hapon ang nakuha nilang schedule para rito and it was all because of Eloise's boyfriend, Hector. The specialist they had appointed had a full-packed schedule kaya sa hapon na sched na sila na-insert nito.

And it was also Hector who had just called her. Papalapit na ito sa kanila.

"Hect!" Napatayo naman si Eloise at kaagad sinalubong ang boyfriend niya. They gave each other a quick kiss. Dalawang araw din niyang hindi nakita ang nobyo. Hector was really busy with his residency as it was already his last year.

She suddenly heard a sound from behind and when she turned her head, she noticed Blaine giving them this constipated and disgusted look. Mukha itong nasusuka habang pinapanood sila ni Hector.

Eloise rolled her eyes. "Babe, ito 'yung kapitbahay na sinasabi ko sayo." She spoke, sounding unhappy.

Hector gave a small smile to Blaine who also stood up to meet him. "Ah, ikaw pala 'yung kinukwentong abogadong kapitbahay ni Loi. I'm Hector, her boyfriend. I'm a resident anesthesiologist here." Her boyfriend offered his hand to Blaine. Blaine shook it as well.

"I'm Blaine, or Atty. Quevado if you want to be formal," Blaine forced a smile. "I think sa sinasabi mo palang kinukwento, I must already have a bad reputation in your mind."

Hector chuckled lightly. "I've heard stories... Purely from my girlfriend, but like law, it's proof beyond reasonable doubt, Attorney."

"Well, for sure, with your girlfriend's stories about me, I'm already guilty beyond reasonable doubt."

Both of them laughed like it was some inside joke.

"Teka lang ha, nandito pa ako," Eloise reacted. Mukhang enjoy na enjoy pa ang dalawang pag-usapan siya. Parang kinalimutan ng mga ito na nandoon pa siya. "Ang pakay natin rito, ipa-check up si baby. Ano? Magchismisman na lang tayo?"

Both of them stopped. Hector straightened himself. "Of course, babe. Let's go inside." Inirapan lang ito ni Eloise at pumasok na sa loob ng clinic dala-dala ang basket kung nasaan ang baby. Sumunod naman ang dalawa sa kanya.

Kaagad silang nilapitan ng isang nurse para i-assist sila. May hawak pa itong folder kung saan may isang form.

"Name ng baby?" The nurse asked.

"Uh, wala pang name—," hindi pinatapos ni Eloise si Blaine at inunuhan ito.

"Elaine." Eloise answered, smiling wickedly. Kunot-noong napatitig lang sa kanya si Blaine. His facial expression alone was enough to assume that it was  a "what the fuck" moment. Hector even looked at her confused. Eloise eyed her boyfriend and mouthed "sumakay ka na lang."

"Okay," the nurse started scribbling on the form. "I assume you're the parents. Are you married?"

"What?!" Sabay pa silang dalawa ni Blaine na nag-react. Their voices were too loud, enough for the other patients waiting outside to hear.

Parang naman niyang pinandirihan ang sinabi ng nurse. "We are never married! I'm not going to be married to that manwhore. Magunaw muna ang mundo bago mangyari 'yan!" Eloise told the nurse as if it was a very absurd idea. Si Blaine naman ay mukha ring nandidiri sa sinabi ng nurse.

"Ms. Gomez," napa-iling-iling na lang si Blaine. "Nobody wants to marry you. I mean, for sure, your doctor boyfriend probably only pitied you because you're a charity case." He said to her and she knew he was annoyed as well. Nag-aaway na silang dalawa sa harap ng nurse.
