"i'm gonna miss you so much" Jada says, hugging me tightly as I pack my bags. Jada was one of my best friends.

"Can you stay please" I hear Caitlin pleading from the bathroom. "Caitlin, you know I want to. But going to Uconn is better for my career" I reply.

"Doesn't your ex go there?" Kate says. "yup" I sigh. To be real, I'm still not completely over Inês. I mean, she was my first love- there's no way i could ever forget her. Even if i tried.

"stayyyy" The girls whined. As much as I wanted to stay at Iowa, going to Uconn was way better for my career.

"Well guys. At least I have another day here" I say, trying to enlighten the mood. "I'm gonna miss you" Gabbie says as she bursts through my dorm door. "I'll miss all of you guys" I say as I finish packing.

"Let's do something today. My last day with you guys" I say, pouting. "Movie day!" Caitlin shouts. "Okay" We all agree.

Today was so fun. The day consisted of Jada going live, us causing havoc in coaches office, watching millions of movies, causing havoc in multiple stores, etc.

"guys, sorry to darken the mood right now, but my flight is at 7 am." I say. The girls groan and i just laugh.

"maybe you can find some hot girls out there in Connecticut" Kate says. "Nah" I mumble. I haven't dated, talked to, or had sex with anyone since me and Inês broke up. Which was like 2 years ago.

"Bro you need to find someone. You're so lonely" Hannah jokes. "Hey, i'm not lonely. Just not ready to date" I say, protecting myself.  "Maybe Inês will take you back" Gabbie mumbles.

"Can we change the topic? Don't know why you guys are so interested in my love life anyway. Acting like you guys aren't single yourself" I say, turning my focus back to the TV.

Truth be told, any mention of Inês had me sick to my stomach. I didn't want to ever talk about her. The mention of her name made me nauseous.

"Hey, i'm not single" Caitlin says, throwing her hands up. I shake my head and roll my eyes playfully. "I should go to sleep" I say.

"Noo" the girls whine. "Guys i have a 7 am flight." I say. I go around the room giving everyone hugs because by time i leave they will all be asleep.

"I love you guys." I say. "love you too" The girls say, all hugging me. I walk into my room to sleep in there one last time.

My alarm clock blares through the room, waking me up. It's 5 am. I hop out of bed and grab my clothes to take a shower. Once i'm done, I put on a black hoodie with gray sweatpants and I slip on my black Yeezy slides.

I order an uber and grab everything. i'm really gonna miss this. I think to myself. I walk out to find Kate, Gabbie, Hannah, Jada, and Caitlin sitting on the couch.

"Why are you guys awake?" I say, setting my bags down to hug them. "we're gonna miss you" Jada says while crying. "Jada stop you're gonna make me cry" I say.

"Well. At least i'll see you guys at the games" I say crying. "Yeah" The girls say. We all sit down, talk and take pictures until my Uber's outside.

"My uber is here" I say starting to tear up again. The girls all jump on me, hugging. They finally let go when they realize i have to go.

I get into the Uber and we head to the airport.

Man, that flight was crucial. Luckily, my sister, Brianna went to Uconn so she could just pick me up. I got off my flight to see Brianna standing with a tall blonde girl.

"Bri!" I yell, running up to her. I hadn't seen my sister since last break. I missed her so much. "Destiny!" She yells back hugging me tightly.

Me and my sister have always been close. She's like my best friend. "This is Paige" Brianna says pulling away. "Hi. i'm Destiny" I say shaking her hand. "Paige. You're the new media manager, right?" She says.

"yup!" I say. Brianna was a cheerleader for the Uconn women's basketball team so I knew she already knew the people on the team. Including Inês.

"wow we're gonna have siblings in the same team" Paige laughs. "Better get ready for arguments" Brianna laughs out. We walk out of the airport and get into Briannas car.

"I'm gonna take you to the team dorm where the rest of the girls are" Brianna says over the music she's played. "Okay" I say quietly, dreading seeing Inês.

We make it to the dorm where the rest of the girls are and paige takes some of my bags for me. "Thanks" I say. "Hey, you okay? you seem off" Brianna whispers. "Yeah. Just not so excited to see.. well you know who." I whisper back and she nods.

We walk into the dorm and the first person i see is Inês. "Guys this is our new media manager, Destiny" Paige says.

As soon as Inês hears my name she instantly looks up, making us lock eye contact. "okay so that's KK" Brianna says pointing to a girl doing a tiktok dance. "That's Nika" Paige says, pointing to a brunette sitting at the table.

"And that's Ashlynn, Qadence, Amari, Ayanna, Azzi, Aubrey, Aaliyah, Jana, Ice, and Inês" Brianna finishes, getting quieter at the end.

The girls all walk up to me, giving me hugs and hand shakes. Except Inês. "hey" She says quietly. My heart dropped. She hadn't said a word to me in like 2 years.

I felt literally sick to my stomach. "uhm." I say before I felt a lump form in my throat. I quickly walk out the door, heading for Briannas car.

For 2 years i had managed to not cry over her. And it's all coming back. To that one shitty argument that tore our relationship apart.

I quickly hop into Briannas car and tears start to flow. "Destiny!" I hear brianna call. I open the door shakily. "Oh my god." She whispers, holding me close.

"I'm not ready. I'm not over her" I say, sobbing. "It's okay, baby. It'll be okay" Brianna whispers rubbing my back. I wipe my eyes, realizing i'll have to go back in some time.

"cmon. We can go to our dorm and get settled in. You're my roomie" She says. "No. Let's go back in. I want to get to know the girls" I say. She nods and we go back in.

I see that Inês is gone which is good for me.
why the hell did i go through with this transfer knowing damn well i wasn't over her?
