Me, paige, and inês are in english class, working our way through this incredibly long lecture. I hate this class. Not because of the subject or the teacher-no, but because I share a class with the person i hate most. Inês Bettencourt.

Ever since the hangout, things have been incredibly more awkward between us. "are you even listening to her?" Paige whispers. "nope" I shake my head. Paige was in the middle of me and Inês, me on her right and Inês on her left. Mainly because i always refuse to sit next to Inês. You couldn't pay me 1 billion dollars to do it.

"What're you thinking about" Paige asks, noticing me staring off. "Just. stuff" I say, shrugging. In reality, I was thinking about Inês. How would the next couple of days go? would she avoid me forever?

"Really?" Paige says, a hint of "i know that's bullshit" laced in her tone. "mhm" I hum, nodding slightly. "You thinking about somebody?" Paige replies.

"Just. just about life." I lie. "Bullshit" Paige continues. "Leave me alone" I say quietly, putting my head down. "You good?" She asks.

"yeah, i'm good." I say. It wasn't half a lie though. Life has been good so far. I got my car, i've been taking great pictures, it's just been great. "mhm" paige nods.

"i'm so glad we have tomorrow off, i'm so sore"  Nika complains, collapsing onto the couch. We just got done with practice and we were all hanging out.

"Hey guys" Inês says, walking through the door. "Neshy poohh!" KK announces. "my legs hurt like a bitch, I swear" Inês says. "I knew I wasn't the only one." Nika laughs as Inês flops down on the couch next to me.

"Ya'll just don't be in the lab like that man, i feel fine" Paige chimes in. "Girl boo" KK says, rolling her eyes. "Destiny? You good?" KK says, noticing my sudden quietness.

"Yeah, no, i'm good." I say, nodding my head. "You sure?" Inês whispers, locking eye contact with me. "i'm fine. I just-i just have something to do so I have to go." I rush. "what do you have to do?" Aubrey asks. "Nothing. Something. Just something" I shake my head.

"Nothing or something? which one is it" Nika says. "Something. I have to do something, okay? The fuck." I say, walking out the door.

"What's up with her?" Azzi asks, arching her eyebrows. "I dunno. Actually i'll be right back" Paige says, jogging out the door.

"Destiny!" She yells. "What?" I yell back. "Let me in" she says, tapping on the passenger window. I unlock the door and watch her climb in.

"What's wrong?" She asks me. "Nothing, Paige" I say sternly. I'm not good at opening up. It's always been something i've struggled with ever since i was younger. Inês was the one person I could truly open up to. And she ruined that.

"Bull fucking shit." She replies. "Is it Inês?" She adds. "Bro, why do you care so much" I roll my eyes. "Cause the team is worried about you. You've been. I dunno. Down lately." Paige says, shaking her head.

"Is there something wrong, Destiny? Please, just tell me. I'm here to listen." Paige adds. "I," I try to get out before a lump form in my throat.

"I miss Inês. I really fucking miss her and her stupid ass jokes. I miss her so much, Paige. And when we all hung out she tried to talk to me and I just brushed her off. I still love her Paige, I really do. I'm so fucking stupid." I cry out, putting my head on the steering wheel.

"Hey, hey. Don't cry. You're not stupid. It's okay that you're not completely over her yet. It was a long and serious relationship, those feelings aren't gonna go away over night. It's okay." Paige says, hugging me.

"Thank you, Paige" I sniffle, hugging her back.

"And yup. That's been my life these past couple of weeks" I say to Kennise through facetime. "It's only been 2 weeks and you're already depressed" Kennise says, shaking her head. Kennise is a freshman on the team, she's like my little sister.

"Bro, shut up" I smack my lips. "I can't wait to see you in three days bestie" Kennise exclaims. The season opener is in three days and of course Iowa and UConn go against each other.

"I know, me too" I smile. "i'm about to go to bed, i have an 8 am class tomorrow" I groan, turning my light off. "mkay', goodnight desti" Kennise says, blowing me a kiss through the phone. "Good night nene" I laugh, hanging up.
