We arrived at my house in no time. Teddy's car was gone, so I assumed he wasn't there. My car was sitting in the parking lot. I walked up the steps with Haz on my heels. I pushed the key into the lock and turned. I was met by the girl who was dancing on Teddy's lap. She looked at me with sympathy.
"He's in the kitchen, passed out. I am so sorry. About everything. He told me he was single."
"I would accept your apology, but the fact that you came home with him makes total sense. I accept your apology, but you can shove up your ass."
She stared at me with such shock. I smirked and walked past her, tiptoeing to the stairs. I peeked i nthe kitchen and sure enough, Teddy was passed out on the floor. I crept up the steps to our room, grabbed my suitcase, and started packing. I gathered everything I could, determined never to come back.
I looked around, satisfied with the mess I had made. I zipped up my bags and carried them down the stairs. I was on the third step when Teddy appeared from around the corner.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"Haven't we already discussed this? I'm leaving. I don't understand your ways and I sure as hell wont be sticking around to get them. You can't control me. By the way, that is a fantastic bruise you've got there."
His eyes tinted with anger as he looked at my fingers.
"I should say the same for you. I'm sure it'll get darker. Where's your ring?"
"Being put to good use."
He stepped on the first step, two away from me.
"Where exactly?"
"You might want to ask the person I gave it to. He needs it more than I do."
Haz stepped out from behind the kitchen wall, finger to his lips, signalling for me to keep quiet.
"Who exactly did you give it to?"
"Don't know and to be completely honest with you, I don't care, as long as I don't have to look at it again."
Teddy took another step.
"Didn't I say you're not leaving. You don't have anybody to save you now, do you?"
I looked up at Haz and looked back at Teddy. I pulled the vulnerable card and shook my head.
"And we all know what I did to your parents. You think I can't do that to you?"
He took a step up as I remembered their smiling faces.
"What did you do to my parents?"
"Oh, so you don't know. Well, one night, I went over to their house and I slowly, pleasurably, leisurely, killed them. Your mom was screaming as I killed your dad first, and then I unhurriedly killed her. I liked watching her squirm. But you want to know the best part? The only thing she way saying was not to hurt you."
What I saw next happened so fast, I thought it was a dream. Haz gripped Teddy's hair and pulled him back. He fell at Haz's feet and rolled over. Haz was kicking him, breaking ribs and possibly his sternum. He stopped, looked up at me, tears forming in his eyes, and walked out the front door.
I slid with my back against the wall and sat there for a few minutes, pondering the new information and remembering what I had just seen. I wanted to cry, but nothing seemed to come. I was scared. Not only of Haz's strength, but his actions, and the thought that any moment Haz could turn on me.
I looked down at Teddy, who was writhing on the floor. He looked at me with more of a pleading look than anything. I felt no sympathy for him. He killed the only people who loved me. He took away the two people that mean the world to me. The worst part about it, was that he told me how it played out, smiling as he watched it happen all over again. Seeing the tears for in my eyes was pleasurable for him.
