"There's a darkness in the distance, from the way that i've been livin', but I know I can't resist it."

Aurora was stressed to say the least. This was her first ever quest and she had no idea what to pack. She had to have done at least five laps around the cabin before she put together a bag of two other outfits, snacks, water, and basic toiletries. She looked down at her pink stuffed bear, pondering on the thought of taking it or not. Eventually, she decided not to; she would never forgive herself if it got lost.

Then after saying emotional goodbyes to her siblings, she made her way up the hill.

"Glad you could finally make it," Percy snarled.

"You should be glad that I'm here. I know you secretly love my company," the girl winked at him before turning to the others with a smile. Footsteps were heard behind the group.

Luke came running up the hill carrying a pair of basketball shoes.

"Hey!" he panted. "Glad I caught you."

Annabeth blushed, the way she always did when Luke was around.

"Just wanted to say good luck," Luke told Percy. "And I thought...um, maybe you could use these."

He handed Percy the sneakers, which looked pretty normal.

Luke said, "Maia!"

White bird's wings sprouted out of the heels causing Percy to drop them. The shoes flapped on the ground until the wings folded up and disappeared.

"Awesome!" Grover said.

Luke smiled. "Those served me well when I was on my quest. Gift from Dad. Of course, I don't use them much these days..." His expression turned sad.

"Hey, man." Percy said. "Thanks."

"Listen, Percy." Luke looked uncomfortable. "A lot of hopes are riding on you. So just...kill some monsters for me, okay?"

They shook hands. Luke patted Grover's head between his horns, then gave goodbye hugs to Annabeth and Aurora, the former looking like she might pass out.

After Luke was gone, Percy told her, "You're hyperventilating."

"Am not." Annabeth responded.

"You most definitely are," Aurora snickered.

"You let him capture the flag instead of you, didn't you?"

"Oh...why do I go anywhere with you Percy?"

She stomped down the other, where a white SUV waited on the shoulder of the road. Argus followed, jingling his car keys.

"I won't be able to use these, will I?" Percy asked Chiron.

He shook his head, "Luke meant well, Percy. But taking to the air...that would not be wise for you."

"Hey Grover, you want a magic item?" Percy asked.

Soon enough, the shoes were on Grover and the very first flying goat was ready for launch.
