---------------------------------------Laughter filled the lab as the Davenport siblings came in. It was Wendy's laughter; Leo had done something funny to cheer the girl up. She was still on the medbay, though Ben, Kevin, and Gwen had to return to Bellwood. Gwen made Donald promise her that he would keep her updated. Morningstar took a lot more mana than they had thought. Wendy only needed two more days of rest to walk about again. However, Gwen ordered her to take it easy. Chase felt his heart flutter as he heard the sound. Bree had teased him after figuring out he had a crush on her. Then again, it wasn't hard to figure it out after the fight with Morningstar.
"How are you feeling?" Donald asked as he came over to the med bay. "I am doing better. Am I able to go to school tomorrow? I am getting so bored," Wendy stated before groaning. "I don't know why not, though you must take it easy. I got a doctor's notice for gym class." Donald said, which made Wendy's face light up. Much like Leo, she hated gym class. She was also cheer captain, but it still made her day. "What about us?" Bree asked as she pointed to her and her brothers. "You and Adam can go, but I am unsure about Chase," Donald admitted as he looked at the youngest bionic hero. "Why not?" Chase asked as he sat on the edge of the medbay. "I am worried about your commando app, and it's not stable. I am surprised it didn't go off when you guys were fighting Morningstar." Donald stated before the room felt quiet.
"What's the command app?" Wendy asked as she slowly adjusted herself to sit up. Chase felt a gentle squeeze on his hand, which made him look down. He noticed Wendy's assuring him that Donald must have a valid reason. "The commando app is Chase's alter ego. When he gets angry, it turns on. I call him Spike." Donald explained as he looked at the group. "So how angry would he have to get? As you pointed out, he didn't get angry when Wendy was practically dying." Leo stated as he folded his arms. "I am not sure, but I also don't want to take risks," Donald added, which made Chase feel a bit annoyed. "But what if he's super careful?" Wendy's reasons for wanting to back Chase up. "Spike can be a threat, but if he's careful, yes," Donald stated, knowing he wouldn't change their minds.
"Thank you," Chase whispered to the redhead, who smiled in response. Monday came, and Wendy got ready before coming down for breakfast. The family had breakfast and laughed at some of Donald's stories. Chase sat next to Wendy as usual but had a chance to squeeze her hand under the table, to which Wendy replied with a squeeze of her own. Since Morningstar, Chase had been somewhat bold with his feelings towards the redhead but was still nervous about admitting anything.
Lunchtime went quicker than Wendy thought; she had just told her friends she had a stomach bug. That was why she was out, though she knew that was a lie. Wendy had already told the Davenports she couldn't risk anyone knowing about her parents' job and hers. She was sitting at the cheerleader table with her friends while the siblings in question came in. "Aren't those your friends' new siblings?" one asked, making Wendy look up from her plate. She couldn't hear what Leo was saying, but she could make a wild guess as to his words. "He's probably giving them a lecture on where to sit." She mumbled to her friend, who let a laughter out. Wendy wasn't that hungry, so she just played with her food.
"Wendy's sitting at the cheering table. She always tries to sit with me, but the others are not so cool with the idea." Leo said as he plopped his tray into an empty table. "She doesn't look like she's eating much." Chase pointed out, which made Leo turn around. "She does that when her parents are out of town. It's the longest they have been gone." Leo added, trying to explain his friend's odd behavior. "That explains a lot, actually," Bree commented as she thought about the last few days. Wendy's parents still haven't been back, and it worries her. The redhead didn't usually get this nervous, but something felt off. Chase glanced in her direction a couple of times.
Trent was the high school bully, the one person Wendy always wished she could use her powers on or have Kevin beat him. He also tried to flirt with her every chance, which annoyed her. "Hello, beautiful," Trent stated as he sat on the other side of her. Wendy rolled her eyes and ignored the male, but he didn't give up. "Come on, don't ignore me. You know you won't get anyone better." He added before creasing her arm gently; Wendy's friends shifted in their chairs uncomfortably. "Leave her alone, Trent." one of the male cheerleaders stated as he folded his arms and glanced coldly at the male. "Who was that the wind?" Trent asked the room; Leo, at his table, was watching the interaction. As much as he wanted to step in and help his best friend, he knew very well that Trent would beat the ass out of him. Then he had a light bulb a moment later before turning to Bree. "Bree, how does Chase's commando app turn on," Leo whispered, which made Bree choke on her drink before turning to him.
Trent noticed the new people beside Leo and took his drink before getting up. Wendy's eyes widened as she put two and two together. "Trent, don't." She stated that before he walked over to the table, Wendy slowly got up and tried to stop him. She was late; however, Trent spilled the drink all over the table. She noticed Chase's sudden behavior change, which made her heart beat quicker. "Think again, Bubbleneck. I am going to rip out your kneecaps and use them as hockey sticks." Spike stated as Wendy quickly came over to Bree. "I don't mean to alarm everyone, but I think Spikes is back," Adam whispered among them while watching his younger brother. Spike noticed the pudding cups the football team was holding, which gave him an idea. "Chase, please calm down before you make things worse," Wendy stated as she slowly approached the youngest brother. She wanted to ensure he didn't get beat up by Trent even more than he already does. The redhead stood before Spike after speaking since she wanted to be in between the two. "Hello beautiful, what's making you step between us," Spike stated as he raised an eyebrow before looking at her.
Bree gripped Adam's lower arm gently as she watched; she knew the damage that Spike could do. Before anything could happen, Trent had been wise for once. "You, okay, okay, you are lucky that we have to go to the reading center right now," Trent stated before the other guys left. Wendy kept still and looked at Spike, who slowly turned back into Chase. "Chase?" She asked as she slowly stepped in front of him. "What happened?" Chase asked as he blinked several times and noticed the cups in his hands. "Spike happened," Leo stated as he looked at his best friend, who shook her head. Chase whipped his body around after Leo spoke with widened eyes. "You guys were supposed to look after me." Chase stated towards Adam and Bree.
Perry had challenged Chase to a football game in the park for making fun of her football team. Once school was over, Bree, Adam, and Leo went to keep an eye on him. Wendy had gone to Davenport's home to get Mister Davenport. "Mister Davenport!" Wendy shouted as she ran into the lab where he was. "What is it?" Donald asked as he raised his eyebrow while Wendy caught her breath. "Chase had this mishap at school; he became Spike because the football team was jerks. Perry challenged him to a football game, which they are doing now. Adam, Bree, and Leo are there making sure he doesn't do anything." Wendy explained quickly, letting Donald get his coat for the game.
After the game, Donald gave the trio a long lecture on how to be careful, and they all returned to the Davenport home. Bree and Wendy were laughing about something as they entered; Tasha was at the sink talking to Wendy's parents. "Mom, Dad!" Wendy shouted as she ran up to her parents to hug them. "Can she leave now!" Eddie shouted as he turned on in the living room. "Wendy, you are always welcomed here." Donald stated as he turned Eddie off before turning to the girl. "Thank you Mister Davenport!" Wendy stated and smiled at him.
