Destiny Lashae"Mommmy" Junior screams bursting through my bedroom door and climbing into the bed to cuddle up to me.
"It's ok Junie momma gotchu" I say running my fingers through her hair. I knew she would be coming in here due to the thunderstorm that roared outside.
She was initially laying with me but eventually went into her room because she was a "big girl" now. Humming my favorite Summer Walker song to her all that could be heard was the rain and the melody of Session 33. About 10 minutes passed without her saying anything else so I assumed she was asleep but my assumption was quickly proven wrong when she mugged me for trying to move her.
"Mommy can you tell me a story" she says breaking the silence.
"Which story my love?" I ask adjusting my body so I could be comfortable.
"The one about you and papa Chris" she replies looking up at me with a pout causing me to smile.
"Once upon a time, there lived 2 kids who started as best friends but overtime fell madly in love with one another"
Flashback: Eight years ago....
"All done" I smile down at my boyfriend Christoper as I finished his very last braid.
"Thank you ma" he replies standing and pulling his pants up in the process before leaning down to place a kiss on my forehead.
As we cleaned I couldn't help but feel warm inside. Little moments like this were the ones I cherished the most with him. Christopher was my everything and vice versa and our timeline dated all the back to childhood. We met when my family moved next door to his family and we've been inseparable ever since.
Around the age of 10 my parents were killed right in front of us. Drive by gone wrong was the story everyone told but I knew with the life my father lived it was bound to happen. My father was one of the biggest drug dealers in our hood and my mother was an elementary school teacher, polar opposites but somehow it just worked.
She always wanted me to follow in her footsteps but I always preferred the life that my father lived. He taught Chris and I everything we needed to know in order to protect ourselves. However he taught Chris a lot more when it came to applying the shit in real life. After their passing, I moved into my Aunt's room in my grandmother's house while she was away for college.
Everything went smoothly until my grandmother passed away from a heart attack and of course I was the one to find her body. Once she passed I went down a path that I never imagined for myself.
By the age of 14 I had already been stealing cars and selling dime bags for 3 years. My grades were so bad that I was sent to an alternative school and that's when I saw him.
I hadn't seen him since I moved away with my grandmother and here he was looking fine as ever. Don't get me wrong he has always been good looking but just like wine he got better over time.
"You can't speak" I hear from the side of me causing me to break from my thoughts.
"Wassup Christopher," I say rolling my eyes playfully but from the big smile I had on my face you could tell I was geeked to see him.
