Chapter 3

I woke up to the glittering sun pouring onto my face. I sat up and just thought about what my day might be like.

Okay Charlotte, today is the day you will be told what your life will be like until you die.

It will either, A: Be exactly like it is now full of rainbows and butterflies,

Or it will B: Be full of anger and… I don’t know setting buildings on fire? Whatever crimes they do in their free time, and I will most likely get beat up, and along with that my Parents will have forgotten me. That will sure be a heck of a rollercoaster…

I decided not to think about it, because it will ruin my day and make me do worse on whatever they will make me do in that test. Confidence is the key of passing.

I walked out of my room and into the kitchen seeing my mom at the stove. I was confused on what she was doing here, until I realized I had no school today! I let out a sigh of relief and sat down in a chair on the kitchen island.

“What are you making mom?” I said peering over her head at the stove.

“Blueberry pancakes, I wanted to start your day off on a good note.”

I smiled as she took her spatula and flipped over the blue, polka dotted batter creating a loud sizzle on the stove.

After a minute of silence she put two pancakes on a plastic, blue plate and brought them over to me along with utensils and a glass of orange juice

“Hey, mom?” I asked pouring syrup over my pancakes.

“Yes honey?” She said walking back to the stove to continue cooking.

“Do you think I’ll be able to stay here?”

“I can’t answer your question yet,” she said tapping her nails on the counter. “You will have to let the results answer for you.”

“I know,” I said sipping on juice. “I’m just… scared.” My mom turned around from the stove. “Of… you know,” I looked down at my plate. “Losing you,” I whispered.

“Honey, I know a lot of moms say this but you really do have to trust me on this. Everything will be fine, no matter how low or how high of a score you get. Do not lose that confidence in you. There may be a little bit of pride mixed in, but that’s where the courage comes from.”

I smiled at her comment. “Thanks Mom, it’s just kind of overwhelming.”

“I know, but even if you don’t do well, it will get better.”

I widened my eyes seeing that my mom must have turned away from the pan for too long. “Um, Mom,” I said pointing to the smoking pan. She took the pan off of the stove and turned the heat down before it could catch on fire.

“Thank you honey, it would not be good if that caught fire,” she said.

I got up from my chair. “Thank you for the pancakes Mom, I’m going to get ready.

I walked into my room drumming my fingers on my shorts. I looked into my closet scanning for an outfit that is nice, but not too dressy after looking at it for a few minutes as if other clothes would magically appear, I settled for something.  Finally, I put my diamonds necklace I got for Christmas around my neck.

After getting ready I looked into the mirror and took a deep breath, then I walked to the doorway of my room to see my mom looking at me and smiling.

“Are you ready to go?” She asked. I nodded in response and we walked out of the door.

When we got in the car, I couldn’t help but to ask questions. “Where are we going?” I asked as we drove into the edge of Celestia. This is where all of the beggars would be, why would we go here?”

“Oh you’ll see,” she said with almost no expression. Her eyes locked on the road until we stopped on a corner where a homeless man held up a sign that said, I’m, hungry.

I crinkled my nose in confusion seeing that there was no red or yellow light, nor was there a stop sign. My mother reached into her purse and grabbed what seemed to be a plastic wrapped sandwich. I was about to open it when I saw the homeless man walk over to our car window. I rolled down the window and looked at the gray haired man in tattered brown clothes, instantly making me feel bad for his very sad looked eyes.

“Excuse me ladies do you happen to have any money on you?” The man asked. I looked at my unwrapped sandwich. Even after having the pancakes I was starving but I figured he was more than twice as hungry as I was so I smiled and gave him the sandwich, his face beaming.

“Bless your heart, I haven’t eaten in five days,” the man said. I smiled and reached into my pocket seeing there was a twenty dollar bill and gave it the man. His face lit up in surprise. “Young lady, you are Celestia material. You will have nothing to worry about when you take your test.” He took the money and walked back over to his corner and sat down holding the sandwich.

I looked at my mom who smiled at me with a heartwarming face. “Good job honey,” she looked down holding a pencil and wrote something on a notepad.

After closing the notepad, she continued driving over and I realized we were on the complete opposite side as we were when I helped the old homeless man. We stopped by a grocery store and my mom undid her seatbelt. I need to make a quick stop here, come on.

We got out of the car and walk over to the entrance about to walk through the doorway until she turned around.

“Actually I can do this myself. Stay out here and don’t go back in the car,” I nodded as she turned back and walked through the door.

I turned on my heel. “Ohh-kayyy,” I was about to go ahead and go back to the car until I look the left of a crosswalk. An old woman was standing in front of the busy street with cars zipping by, with several groceries in her hands and a few on the ground.

I sighed and walked over to the old woman. “Would you like me to help you with that?”

“Oh yes!” She beamed, “thank you.”

I took the groceries on the ground and a few of the one in her hands until I couldn’t hold anymore. Then I waited until the coast was clear, and walked across the street with the old women and helped put them in the trunk of her car. After she said thank you, I walked back to the car to see my mother taking notes on what must have been the same notepad.

“I’m going to make a quick run to the bathroom, and then we can go,” she said smiling. My mom tried putting her notepad in her pocket, but it seemed to have slipped out and onto the ground. Being the curious person I am, I picked up the notepad and opened it to the first page.

It what looked nothing like my mother’s handwriting read:

Whoa.... That was SHOCKING right?

I'm sorry Its been a few days since I've posted. It's kind of hard to write 3 novels at the same time (Which you should try to check out when you can), I would have only stuck with one but I just really liked the ideas of them (And trust me, I have loads more,)

I bet you didn't expect that did you? (; What do you think will happen next? Why do you think it said she failed?

Dedicated to @xxxraynxxx for her really sweet comment(:

If anybody has a cast suggestion for Charlotte, go ahead(:

I'll definitely try and post tomorrow, so make sure you check back again soon.

LOVE YOU ALL! <3
