."You could finally meet my cousin." Solange sang
"No offense but that's not exactly grounds for me to be out of my bed on a Friday."
"Do you hear yourself? 22 talking about reason to be out of bed.. on Friday!" She exclaimed, walking in circles around me as she spoke.
"We're kids to the grown folks, we live off social interactions and bad decisions."
"So you'd agree, it is a bad decision?"
"Look are you gonna come or what nini, I need my girl at my party of the century." She said grabbing my shoulders
"You know I'm gonna be there.. just won't like it." I mumbled the last part as she danced around the cafeteria.
"Great, be there at no past 9:00." She said walking away.
"And don't forget to pack a nights worth." She yelled from a distance.
All I could think about was what the hell I got my anti social ass into.
After going home and packing, it was 9 before I knew it.
I was supposed to leave about 15 minutes beforehand but it was 9:21 by the time I arrived, 9:36 after my pep talk.
I knocked on the door, a face I wasn't familiar with answered.
This must be the infamous cousin.
Just as I was about to introduce myself she spoke, "You early as fuck."
Excuse me? "I'm actually thirty.." I looked at my phone "Seven minutes late."
"Which is A hour and a half early on black peoples time."
I chuckled, "I guess you're right." It was pretty dead in here.
"Are you one of the ones staying over?"
"Yea, I am"
"Cool. She upstairs."
"I know." I said making my way to the stairs
"What's your name again?"
"Onika . Solange calls me ni ni a lot tho."
"Oh I know you." She smiled real big "Al solo does is talk about you. Nice to finally meet you." Her smile lingered before she walked away.
I stood at the stairs for a beat too long, analyzing our brief interaction.
I reached the top of the stairs, pushing the 3rd door to my right open. "Where is everyone?" I asked plopping down on her bed.
"They won't be here until 10-11, I needed you here early for extra support."
"I met your cousin."
"Oh my god was she a bitch? Sorry about that I meant to be there to introduce you two."
"It was fine, she was cool."
