Harry sat there, knowing he probably just made a mistake. He wanted so bad to know what Skye was feeling and he was afraid to approach her. He didn’t regret it though. Those feelings had been kept inside of him for so long. He’s had them bottled up for the past 2 years. He needed to tell her. He glided his hand through his hair, thinking about what to do now. Every possible thought was running through his mind. He knew they needed to talk. They needed to talk about everything.
He got up and made his way throughout the studio, hoping to find Skye somewhere still inside. When she was nowhere to be found, he walked through the doors leading back outside. Skye was leaning against his car, back facing towards him. He didn’t know if she was crying or what she was doing for that matter. He debated on walking up to her, but this needed to be done.
He slowly walked up to her, trying not to scare her. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder and to his surprise, she didn’t pull away. Skye brought her hand up, wiping away the tears that now covered her cheeks. She turned around, facing Harry. That was the scariest part, facing him.
“We need to talk” Harry said bluntly.
Skye sniffled, slowly shaking her head, “I know.”
He grabbed for her hand and walked her back inside, walking back into the room they had just previously been. He motioned for her to sit down on a chair beside him and Skye followed. They sat in silence for what seemed to be forever, both of them barely making eye contact with each other. Harry didn’t know how to start things out and Skye was absolutely terrified of what he might say. She agreed, they needed to talk, but she didn’t exactly know what he wanted to say. And that terrified her as well.
She looked over at Harry, who had his elbows on his knees and head in his hands. She could tell he was in deep thought. She wanted to say something, but what? What could she possibly say? She tried anyway.
“Harry –“ she started but he held his hand up.
“No, I need to say what I want to say.”
Skye shook her head, allowing him to proceed.
“I’m trying to find the right words to say, but I don’t think any words I chose will be able to make it right. But, I need to say this” he breathed. “I lied to you Skye.”
Skye’s heart had dropped. She was nowhere near expecting that. “What –“
“2 years ago, I auditioned for the X Factor and I made it. I went on to live in the house and eventually was put into a band. We placed 3rd and even though we placed there, we still got signed and I am now part of one of the world’s biggest boy bands. 2 years ago I also made a phone call to you” he said as he got up from his chair. He stood in front of Skye before kneeling down and meeting her eyes.
“I told you I had met someone else” he grabbed both of her hands. “But I lied to you.”
Skye was left speechless. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to scream at him or cry in his arms. She couldn’t believe he would do this to her. So many emotions ran through her. She was numb.
“But.. why?” she asked.
Harry’s eyes began swelling with tears, a couple gracefully fell from his eyes and slid down his cheeks. He tried blinking away the tears, but there was always more there.
“I knew that the distance and me not being able to be there was killing you, because it was killing me too. I wanted you to be able to live your life as a teenager and not have to worry about me and when I was going to call you and how I did and basically how everything was going. I wanted you to have the best possible life you could have had. And if that meant lying to you so you could stop worrying about me and actually start being sixteen years old, then I was going to do it.”
