The Perfect Storm

I woke up to a massive headache and I was laying in a bed. I looked up and my mom was talking to some man. He was African American and was dressed in all black. " Mom" I said then she looked over at me and ran to to me. " Baby are you okay "? She asked putting her hand on my head. " you're burning up ". She ran out the room door and they man looked over at me before towards me.

" How you doing "? He asked " My name is Keith ": he said as he was closer to me I could see that he had freckles and looked very young around twenty. " What's going on"? I asked " that's something I'm going to have you're mom explain to you. Then my mom came back in the room. She had a cup of water and some pills. " Here take this.... It's going to help with the pain". I took the cup from her hand and grabbed one of the pills and took it.

" You need to get some rest " Mom said. " No not until you tell me what's going on". Mom let out a deep sigh then sat on the edge of my bed. "I'm not sure what's going on but there's a virus and it's getting inside of people making them go crazy. " Crazy"? I asked. " There turning people into something making them attack others and bit so far the only thing we know is if you get bite by one you become one of them.

"We had someone come into the hospital and he was bitten on the left side of his arm and said his daughter did it. I gave him some antibiotics and it put him to sleep for a while then he began to hallucinate and his whole body was burning up . It was like the virus was killing him from the inside. Nobody had any idea what was going on with him. Then after a while he had no pulse and was pronounced dead . well at least that's what we thought.

But he woke up as one of the nurses was in his room. We were going to take him down to floor one to examine his body and figure what the virus was and what it was doing to him . but then he began to attack her and then he bite her. I heard her scream and ran into the room and he was on top of her and she was screaming. I ran over to him to grab him off her but then he bite me to" . My heart dropped and tears began to come flow down my face . I watched my mom lift up her shirt and it was a bite mark on her stomach.

" What.... No " I cried out. " There has to be something we can do a cure or something". I said looking at both Keith and my mom . I could already tell by the look on both of their faces there was nothing. We have to do something... I can't lose you" I said. Mom began to cry and she reached out both her hands hugging me tight. " You have to be strong Jessie " Mom said. I looked up at mom and her face began to get very sweaty. I could tell there was something wrong.

"Mom" ? I said then she began to get up from my bed and started walking towards Keith. I watched as she lost her balance but Keith hurried and catch her before falling to the floor. I hurried and got up from bed and ran towards her. " What's happening to my mom " I cried out. Keith pressed a bottom causing it to make loud siren sounds and man came running down the ball into the room we were in.

One of the man tried to take my mom from Keith but I pushed him. "What are you doing to my mom? " I yelled. "Your not taking her " . Keith came from behind me and grabbed me then I began to feel a sharp pain in my neck. I looked back at Keith and watched as he pulled the needle from my neck. "I'm sorry " he whispered in my ear then everything started to get blurry and I could barley feel my legs then that's when everything went black.

A few hours passed . I woke up and I was in a different room with very bright lights. And I was I looked up and seen my mom laying in a bed with IV's hooked up to her. It looked as if we were in a hospital. I tried to get up and run over to her but something that was connect to my hand stopped me. I looked down at my hand and it was handcuffed to the chair I was sitting in.

After a few moments a doctor came in and Keith followed in behind her. I could tell she was a doctor by what she was wearing and she had a tag on her shirt. Dr Kate. She began to walk towards my mom and grabbed a needle from off the table along with some other things. " Stop what is that "? I asked causing her to look at me. She didn't say anything and began to walk closer to my mom. I never felt so helpless in my life. " It's for the pain " the lady said. " You're mom been in and out for the last few hours I don't know how much longer she has before the virus takes over her whole body ".

Keith walked over to me. " Jessie " He said letting out a sigh. " I'm sorry this has happened to you're mother. But she needs you the most right now. After Mrs Kate stabiles her. You should be able to talk to her we don't know how much longer she has and it's getting worse. I couldn't help but to cry. Keith pulled out keys from his pocket then unlocked the hand cuff. Then the nurse stuck the needle in my mom arm causing her to wake.

I ran over to her side of her bed and Keith and the nurse left out the room. " Mom " I cried out as I was sitting on edge of her bed. She looked over at me and her face was burning up and it was a whole bunch of sweat on her face. " Jessie baby " she said sounding very weak as if she could barely talk. " I love you so much... and I need you to be strong ". I began to shake my head no as I could see where this was going.

" Jessie baby " she repeated again. " I'm dying and I don't know how much time I have left but I can feel it. This virus is pulling my bones apart every move I make it feels like my body is breaking as is my bones are made of glass and every move I make something in my body breaks. She cried out. I could tell my mom was in pain and it killed me to know there was nothing I could do about it.

I got up from the side of her bed and ran out the room with tears flowing from my face. I ran over to Keith and he was talking with the nurse. " There has to be something you can do " I yelled. "SOMETHING". He looked at me but didn't say a word just stared.

"'I'm sorry Jessie but everything we tried nothing worked... you're mom isn't the first person I went through this with. It's been only a few hours and I've lost everything " . He said " the best thing you can do for you're mom is be there.... She needs you the most right now ". I began to walk back to my moms room disappointed with tears flowing down my face. When I made it back inside mom was sleep.
