A/N: This is also an AU where Suguru didn't choose the dark path 😉 Can't let our boyfie become a bad guy and leave us and die and be taken over by Kenjaku and- Okay I'm rambling now.
It was a sunny weekend, and the second-years and third-years of Tokyo Jujutsu High were gathered on the training grounds for a sparring session. The air was filled with the sounds of friendly banter and the occasional clash of fists. You, now in your second year, felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as you tied your shoelaces. You enjoyed these sparring sessions, especially when you got to spar with the third-years because they taught you many cool moves.
"Hey, Y/N," Satoru called out, his usual cocky grin plastered on his face. "Your turn."
You blinked in surprise. "With you? Okay..."
He winked. "Don't worry, I'll turn off my Infinity. And neither of us can use cursed energy, just raw strength."
You nodded, feeling a spark of determination. Sparring with Satoru was always a challenge, but you were ready. You squared off in the middle of the training ground, with your friends watching eagerly. You decided to use your shortness to your advantage, aiming low to strike at Satoru's lower half. However, Satoru's reflexes were much faster than you anticipated. As you moved in, he delivered a swift blow to your stomach, accidentally hitting harder than intended.
You were sent flying backwards, landing with a thud on the ground. Suguru was the first to rush to your side. "Y/N, are you okay?"
You winced but managed a smile. "I'm fine, Suguru. I've taken worse hits before."
He nodded, helping you to sit on the sidelines. "Just rest for now. Since Satoru didn't use cursed energy, there's nothing Shoko can heal with her reverse cursed technique."
You watched as Satoru and Nanami took their positions for the next sparring match. Despite the pain, you couldn't help but be impressed by their skill. After the training session ended, the group decided to take advantage of the weekend and camp out in the nearby forest, which was still part of the school grounds.
That evening, Shoko and you brought snacks, while Suguru and Satoru carried three tents. Nanami and Haibara were in charge of the barbecue equipment. You all set up the tents and began grilling sausages and chicken for dinner, the smell of the food mingling with the fresh forest air.
As night fell, Shoko and Nanami were the first to retire, slipping into their tents. Haibara stayed up a bit longer, engrossed in a comic book inside the tent he shared with Nanami. You, Satoru, and Suguru sat around the fire, chatting and munching on snacks.
Suddenly, your phone rang. You glanced at the screen and felt a knot form in your stomach. It was Naoya. Reluctantly, you stood up and walked away from the campfire, seeking the privacy of a nearby tree. You answered the call, your voice low.
"Naoya, what is it?"
His voice was cold and demanding. "The marriage is happening sooner than planned. Right after you graduate from Jujutsu High."
The news hit you like a punch to the gut. You tried to hold back your tears, but they flowed freely. Standing by the tree, you sobbed quietly, unaware that Suguru had noticed your distress from afar. He excused himself from the conversation with Satoru and followed you, concern etched on his face.
"Y/N?" Suguru called softly, approaching you. He could hear your sobs, and it broke his heart. "What's wrong?"
You jumped slightly, wiping your tears quickly. "Suguru, I'm fine."
He gently placed a hand on your shoulder. "You're clearly not. What happened?"
Your defences crumbled, and you let out a shaky breath. "Naoya said the marriage will happen right after graduation. I don't know what to do, Suguru. I feel so trapped."
Suguru's mind flashed back to the first time you had confided in him about your arranged marriage. He felt honoured to be the first person that you trusted with such a personal burden. He had always wanted to help you, to find a way to free you from the cruel future that awaited you.
"Come on," he said gently, guiding you back to the camp. "Let's talk in my tent."
Once inside the tent, Suguru laid you down and positioned himself as the big spoon, trying to offer you comfort. As his hand brushed against your stomach, you winced from the lingering pain of Satoru's punch.
"Does it still hurt?" Suguru asked softly.
"A little," you admitted.
He began to rub your stomach gently, trying to soothe the pain. "Do you want to talk about it?"
You sighed, feeling the comfort of his touch. "I think Naoya wants to make the marriage happen sooner to secure his place as head of the Zenin clan. That Megumi kid Satoru's been taking care of turns out to be the first choice to lead the clan. Naoya must see this as a threat."
Suguru's expression hardened with sympathy. "I'm here for you, Y/N. You're not alone in this."
Your eyelids grew heavy, the combination of Suguru's comforting presence and the emotional exhaustion lulling you towards sleep. Just before you drifted off, you felt him press a gentle kiss on your cheek. You were too tired to question it, but a small smile crept onto your face as you finally succumbed to sleep.
Suguru stayed awake, waiting for Satoru to return to the tent. When Satoru finally arrived, he raised an eyebrow at seeing you asleep in Suguru's arms.
"What's going on here?" Satoru asked, his voice low to avoid waking you.
Suguru shot him a look. "Family problems. Oh, and you hit her too hard this morning. She's still in pain."
Satoru smirked, thinking it was not his fault he was stronger. "Tell your girlfriend I'm sorry," he said teasingly.
Suguru just shrugged it off, though his feelings for you ran deeper than he let on. "Yeah, yeah."
Around 3 AM, you stirred and gently extricated yourself from Suguru's arms. "I'm going back to my tent," you whispered. "I don't want to leave Shoko alone, and I don't want people to get the wrong idea if they see me coming out of here in the morning."
Suguru nodded, understanding. "Take care, Y/N. If you need anything, just come to me."
You gave him a grateful smile before quietly slipping out of the tent and making your way back to yours. As you lay down next to Shoko, you couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions about your future with Naoya, but also warmth from the support of your friends. Despite the uncertainty, you knew you weren't facing it alone.
