Chapter 5

Gojo Satoru, with his usual flair for spontaneity, decided it was the perfect weekend to take Megumi and Tsumiki to the amusement park. Being the rich boy, he invited the second-years and his friends, covering all the expenses. The excitement was palpable as you arrived, the park was buzzing with the crowd. You could see the kids running happily towards the rides, dragging their parents along with them.

"Alright, I wanna start with the bumper cars," Satoru announced, his sunglasses glinting in the sun. "Megumi, Tsumiki and Suguru, you guys come with me. Shoko, Y/N, Nanami and Haibara, you guys can start anywhere you want."

"The haunted house it is!" Shoko replied, grinning. "We'll meet up at the roller coaster later."

As you approached the haunted house, your steps slowed. The eerie facade and creepy sounds coming from inside made your heart race. Not to mention how your hair stood up straight when you heard the people's screams from inside.

Nanami noticed your hesitation and gave you a reassuring smile. "Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine," you stammered, not wanting to seem scared. But as soon as you stepped inside, the darkness and sudden scares had you clinging to Nanami's arm. The haunted house was a labyrinth of narrow corridors and hidden jumpscares, each one eliciting a startled gasp from you.

Nanami was both amused and concerned. "Just stay close," he said softly, secretly enjoying the proximity. His usually stoic demeanour softened as he gently guided you through the haunted house, fending off animatronic ghouls and startling sound effects.

Meanwhile, Satoru, Suguru, Megumi, and Tsumiki were having a blast at the bumper cars. Satoru's competitive streak was on full display as he bumped into everyone with glee. Megumi, usually serious, was laughing as Tsumiki skillfully manoeuvred her car to avoid getting hit.

"Come on, Megumi! You can do better than that!" Satoru taunted playfully, narrowly avoiding a collision with Suguru.

Megumi grinned, his eyes sparkling with rare mischief. "Just wait, Satoru."

After the haunted house, the two groups regrouped and made their way to the roller coaster. Before they could get on, a minor cursed spirit appeared near one of the attractions, causing a small panic in the crowd.

"Megumi, think you can handle this?" Satoru asked, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Megumi nodded, summoning his shikigami. With a swift command, the cursed spirit was contained and exorcised by his divine dogs. You all cheered, with Satoru ruffling Megumi's hair proudly.

"Nice job, Megumi," you said, smiling warmly. "You're getting really good at this."

As you boarded the roller coaster, you found yourself next to Haibara. The ride took off with a jolt, speeding through loops and drops. Haibara's screams were louder than the ride itself, his fear evident despite his usual bravery.

When you finally stumbled off the ride, everyone was laughing, mostly at Haibara's expense. "I think you might have shattered my eardrums, Haibara," you teased, grinning.

"Hey, I can't help it if I'm not a fan of heights," Haibara retorted, his face still pale from the ride.

"Don't worry," you said, patting his shoulder. "You were brave to get on in the first place."

The day ended with a visit to an ice cream vendor. You all gathered around, enjoying your treats as the sun set, casting a golden glow over the park.

"This was a great idea, Satoru," you said, licking your salted caramel-flavoured ice cream. "We should do this more often."

"Absolutely," Suguru agreed, sitting next to you and sharing a conspiratorial look with Satoru. "It's good to have days like this, away from missions."

As you prepared to leave, Satoru made sure Megumi and Tsumiki were safely buckled in. "Did you have fun?" he asked, looking at them through the rearview mirror.

"Yes!" Tsumiki replied enthusiastically. "Thank you, Satoru."

Megumi nodded, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, it was fun."

The ride home was filled with happy chatter, the day's adventures already becoming cherished memories.
