The mission had taken a dark turn. What was supposed to be a straightforward infiltration of a Hydra base had turned into a chaotic battlefield. The Avengers fought valiantly, but Hydra had been better prepared than they anticipated, with more troops and advanced technology.

In the midst of the chaos, Y/N found themselves separated from the team again. This time, the onslaught was relentless. They fought fiercely, but the overwhelming numbers and strategic precision of the Hydra agents were too much. Y/N was captured and subdued, injected with a tranquilizer that quickly rendered them unconscious.

Natasha, engaged in a fierce battle, caught sight of Y/N being dragged away by Hydra agents just as the darkness closed in. Her heart sank, but she was unable to break through the enemy lines to reach them. She screamed Y/N's name, but her voice was drowned out by the sounds of battle.

"Y/N!" Natasha's voice was desperate, but it was too late. They were gone.

Back at the Quinjet, the team regrouped, battered and bruised. The gravity of the situation hit them as they realized Y/N was missing. The grim expressions on their faces reflected the severity of the situation.

"We need to go back!" Natasha demanded, her eyes blazing with determination.

Tony, equally grim, shook his head. "We're outgunned and outnumbered. We need to regroup and plan a rescue mission. Going back now is suicide."

Steve placed a hand on Natasha's shoulder, his face filled with sorrow. "We'll get them back, Nat. I promise."

Natasha's jaw clenched, her fists tightening. She wanted to argue, to demand they turn back, but she knew Tony and Steve were right. They couldn't risk losing more team members in a reckless attempt.

Returning to the compound without Y/N was one of the hardest things the team had ever done. The atmosphere was somber as they disembarked from the Quinjet, their hearts heavy with guilt and determination.

Pepper Potts was waiting for them, her expression shifting from concern to fury as she noticed Y/N's absence. She marched up to Tony, her eyes blazing with anger. "Where's Y/N?"

Tony sighed, running a hand through his hair. "They were taken by Hydra. We're going to plan a rescue mission."

Pepper's eyes filled with tears, her voice trembling with fury. "How could you let this happen? They trusted you to keep them safe!"

Tony's face was a mask of guilt and regret. "I know, Pepper. We all feel terrible about this. But rushing in without a plan won't help Y/N. We need to be smart about this."

Pepper shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "Just bring them back, Tony. Please."

Tony nodded, his voice soft but resolute. "We will, Pepper. We'll bring them back."

The team gathered in the war room, their faces grim as they analyzed the data they had collected from the mission. Tony pulled up the schematics of the Hydra base on the screen, highlighting the areas where Y/N was likely being held.

"We need to move quickly," Tony said, his voice steely. "Every minute we waste is a minute Y/N is in danger."

Natasha was uncharacteristically silent, her eyes fixed on the screen. She was already thinking of every possible scenario, every potential rescue plan. The guilt of failing to protect Y/N was eating her alive, and she was determined to make it right.

Steve outlined a plan, assigning roles and responsibilities to each team member. "We go in at dawn. We need to be fast and efficient. Hydra will be expecting us, so we need to be prepared for anything."

Meanwhile, Y/N slowly regained consciousness, their head throbbing and their limbs heavy. They were in a dimly lit room, bound to a metal chair. The cold steel bit into their skin, and they could feel the sting of cuts and bruises from the earlier fight.

A Hydra agent stood before them, a cruel smile on his face. "Welcome back. I hope you're comfortable."

Y/N glared at him, their voice hoarse. "Go to hell."

The agent chuckled, circling them like a predator. "You're a tough one, aren't you? We'll see how long that lasts."

Despite the fear gnawing at their insides, Y/N forced themselves to stay strong. They knew their team would come for them. They just had to hold on until then.

Back at the compound, the Avengers finalized their rescue plan. Everyone was on edge, the urgency of the situation pressing down on them. Natasha was a bundle of nerves, her usual calm exterior cracking under the weight of her guilt and worry.

"Nat," Clint said gently, pulling her aside. "We'll get them back. You need to stay focused."

Natasha nodded, taking a deep breath. "I know. I just... I can't lose them, Clint."

Clint squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. "We won't. We're a team, remember? We'll do this together."
