The Avengers compound was buzzing with activity as the team prepared for their next mission. The mission was critical: a Hydra base had been located, and intelligence suggested it was housing dangerous weaponry and technology. Every available Avenger was needed, including Y/N.

A meeting was called in the conference room. The team gathered around the large table, with Tony Stark at the head, tapping away at his holographic display. As everyone settled in, he pulled up the mission briefing on the large screen.

"Alright, everyone," Tony began, his tone serious. "We've got a big one. Hydra's been busy, and we need to shut them down. We'll need all hands on deck for this. Any questions?"

Y/N glanced at Natasha, who was sitting across the table from them. Her expression was tense, her eyes filled with worry. Y/N felt a pang of guilt; they knew she was still struggling with the aftermath of their recent issues.

Natasha cleared her throat, drawing everyone's attention. "I think Y/N should sit this one out."

The room fell silent, all eyes turning to Natasha. Y/N felt a mixture of surprise and frustration well up inside them.

"Why?" Steve asked, his tone curious but respectful.

Natasha hesitated, searching for the right words. "Y/N is still recovering. I don't think it's safe for them to be out in the field right now."

Y/N bristled, feeling their cheeks flush with anger. "Natasha, I'm fine. My injuries have healed, and I'm ready for this mission."

Tony raised an eyebrow, looking between Natasha and Y/N. "Is there something we should know about, Nat?"

Natasha bit her lip, clearly struggling. "It's just... I think we need to be cautious. If something goes wrong, Y/N might not be able to handle it."

Y/N couldn't hold back any longer. "Natasha, I appreciate your concern, but I'm not a liability. I'm part of this team, and I want to contribute."

Natasha's eyes flashed with emotion, but she didn't back down. "I'm just trying to keep you safe."

Y/N stood up, their chair scraping loudly against the floor. "I don't need you to protect me, Natasha. I need you to trust me."

The tension in the room was thick, and everyone was on edge. Steve intervened, raising a hand to calm the situation. "Alright, let's take a step back. Y/N, if you're confident in your abilities and the med team has cleared you, then you're on the mission. Natasha, your concerns are valid, but we need everyone for this one."

Natasha looked like she wanted to argue, but she finally nodded, her expression resigned. "Fine. But I want Y/N to stay close to me during the mission."

Y/N sighed, sitting back down. "Fine. But let's not make a big deal out of it."

Tony clapped his hands together, trying to lighten the mood. "Alright then, now that we've settled that, let's go over the plan."

The rest of the meeting went smoothly, but the underlying tension between Natasha and Y/N was impossible to ignore. The team discussed the mission details, assigned roles, and prepared for the upcoming operation. Everyone was focused, knowing that the success of the mission depended on their coordination and cooperation.

Later that evening, as Y/N was packing their gear in their room, there was a knock on the door. They turned to see Natasha standing there, her expression a mixture of determination and vulnerability.

"Can we talk?" Natasha asked softly.

Y/N sighed, setting down their gear. "Sure."

Natasha closed the door behind her, leaning against it. "I'm sorry for what happened in the meeting. I didn't mean to undermine you."

Y/N crossed their arms, feeling a mix of frustration and sympathy. "I know you're worried about me, Natasha, but I need to be out there. I need to prove to myself and the team that I can handle this."

Natasha nodded, her eyes filled with regret. "I get it. I just... I can't help but worry. After everything that's happened, I'm scared of losing you."

Y/N stepped closer, their expression softening. "I understand. But you have to trust me. I can take care of myself."

Natasha looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's hard to let go."

Y/N reached out, gently lifting her chin so their eyes met. "We'll get through this, Natasha. Together. But you have to let me do my part."

Natasha nodded slowly, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Alright. I trust you."

the mission , and the team gathered in the hangar, suited up and ready to go. The Quinjet hummed with energy as the Avengers boarded, each member focused and determined.

As they took their seats, Y/N found themselves next to Natasha. She gave them a reassuring nod, and they returned it with a determined smile. They both knew this mission would be a test, not just of their skills, but of their ability to work together despite everything that had happened.

The Quinjet lifted off, the compound shrinking below them as they soared into the sky. The team reviewed the mission details one last time, each member preparing mentally for the battle ahead.

As they approached the drop zone, Steve stood up, addressing the team. "Alright, everyone. This is it. We go in, neutralize the threat, and get out. Watch each other's backs, and stay sharp."

The team nodded, the atmosphere tense but focused. Y/N felt a surge of adrenaline, their nerves steadying as they prepared for the mission.

As they descended towards the Hydra base, Natasha glanced at Y/N, her eyes filled with determination. "Stay close, and we'll get through this."

Y/N nodded, their resolve firm. "You got it."

The Quinjet touched down, and the team moved out, each member falling into their assigned roles. Y/N and Natasha stuck close together, their movements coordinated and efficient. Despite the tension between them, their training and trust in each other shone through.

As they infiltrated the base, the mission quickly escalated into a full-blown battle. Hydra agents swarmed, and the team fought with all their might. Y/N held their own, their skills and determination driving them forward.

At one point, Y/N found themselves separated from the team, surrounded by Hydra agents. They fought fiercely, but the odds were overwhelming. Just as they were about to be overpowered, Natasha appeared, taking down the agents with precision and skill.

She reached out a hand, pulling Y/N to their feet. "I told you to stay close."

Y/N grinned, their adrenaline pumping. "Thanks for the save."

Natasha nodded, her eyes fierce. "Let's finish this."
