The night air was cool as Natasha and Y/N made their way back to the Avengers compound, their hearts still warm from the magical evening they had shared. The car ride was filled with comfortable silence, broken only by the occasional shared smile or the squeeze of a hand, a silent promise of their newfound closeness. As they pulled into the compound's driveway, Natasha turned off the engine and glanced over at Y/N, her eyes soft with affection. "I had an amazing time tonight," she said, her voice filled with sincerity.
Y/N's smile was radiant, their eyes sparkling in the dim light of the car's interior. "Me too, Natasha. It was perfect."
They exited the car and walked towards the entrance, their hands naturally finding each other again. The compound was quiet, the rest of the team presumably asleep or engrossed in their own activities. The silence felt intimate, a cocoon of tranquility wrapping around them.
When they reached Y/N's room, they paused outside the door. Natasha hesitated for a moment, then leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Y/N's forehead. "Good night, Y/N. Sleep well."
Y/N's fingers lingered on Natasha's, their eyes meeting in a moment of shared understanding. "Good night, Natasha. Thank you for tonight. It meant a lot to me."
Natasha smiled, her heart swelling with emotion. "It meant a lot to me too, Y/N. I'll see you in the morning."
With a final squeeze of Y/N's hand, Natasha turned and made her way to her own room. As she settled into bed, her thoughts were filled with the memories of the evening—the laughter, the conversations, the tender moments they had shared. It was a night she would cherish forever, a beautiful beginning to what she hoped would be a lasting relationship.
Meanwhile, Y/N lay in their own bed, a contented smile on their face as they replayed the events of the night in their mind. For the first time in a long while, they felt a sense of peace and hope, a belief that everything would be okay as long as they had Natasha by their side.
--time skip---
The next morning, Natasha was up early, her usual discipline driving her to the training room. As she went through her routine, her mind kept drifting back to the night before, a smile tugging at her lips despite the intensity of her workout.
After showering and changing, she headed to the kitchen to find Y/N already there, sipping on a cup of coffee. The sight of them brought a rush of warmth to her chest, and she walked over, placing a gentle kiss on the top of their head.
"Morning," Natasha said, her voice soft.
Y/N looked up, their smile lighting up their face. "Good morning, Natasha. How was your workout?"
"Good, but I'd much rather be spending time with you," Natasha replied, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Y/N laughed, the sound filling the kitchen with joy. "Well, I'm not going anywhere."
As they sat down to breakfast, the rest of the team slowly trickled in. There was a palpable difference in the air—a sense of calm and happiness that hadn't been there before. The others noticed the change between Natasha and Y/N, the way they seemed more at ease, more connected.
Tony was the first to comment, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. "You two seem awfully chipper this morning. Something you want to share with the class?"
Natasha shot him a look, but there was no real heat in it. "We had a nice evening. That's all."
Y/N chuckled, feeling a blush creep up their cheeks. "Yeah, it was a good night."
The others exchanged knowing glances, but they didn't press further, respecting the privacy of the moment.
The rest of the day passed, and then Jarvis announced something. "movie night at 7pm" and Natasha groans.
