A brown-haired woman walked briskly down the sidewalk, the morning sun casting a warm glow on the quaint town of Stars Hollow. She passes a sign that reads, "Stars Hollow Founded 1779," and crosses the street , heading towards Luke's Diner.

Inside, she takes off her coat , grabs an empty mug from a table, and makes her way to the counter, where Luke, stood behind the counter wearing his usual blue baseball cap and a slightly exasperated expression.

"Please, Luke. Please, please, please," she pleaded, her eyes wide.

"How many cups have you had this morning?" Luke asked, his tone a mix of concern and amusement.

"None," she answered, trying to sound innocent.

"Plus?" he prompted, raising an eyebrow.

"Five, but yours is better," she admitted.

"You have a problem," Luke said, shaking his head.

From the kitchen door Rick, a tall young man with shoulder-length curly brown hair comes out.Plates of food balanced in his hands. A grin spread across his face as he took in the scene.

"Just give the woman some coffee," Rick said, his voice carrying a hint of a teasing lilt.

Luke glanced over his shoulder at Rick, with an annoyed look on his face, before turning back to Lorelai and filling her cup.

"Junkie," he muttered.

"Angel. You've got wings, baby," Lorelai replied, her smile radiant as she took a grateful sip.

The phone rang, and Luke moved to answer it. Lorelai turned to Rick, who was making his way to a table with two waiting customers.

"Well, you're up early," she remarked, with some worry in her voice.

"Yeah," Rick said, setting down the plates with a practiced ease. "Thought I could get a couple extra hours in before school." He turned to the customers with a warm smile. "Enjoy."

As he tried to rush back past his mother, Lorelai stepped in front of him, giving him a quizzical stare.

"It's okay, Mom. I'm about to go get ready for school, just going to finish up cleaning that table," he assured her.

"Alright, try to be quick. Your sister will be here soon. You should join us for a cup of coffee," she said, her tone lightening.

"I'm on it, captain," Rick replied, snapping to attention with a mock salute and a smile that lit up his face.

Lorelai giggled and walked off to a table near the door. Rick quickly moved to clear the plates and wipe down the table. As he passed his mom's table, he noticed a man talking to her but chose to ignore it, continuing his way towards the back.

As he finished up, the door opened with a jingle of the bell. He glanced over and saw his sister, Rory, walking in. She immediately spotted their mom and headed over. Rory looked over and waved, and Rick waved back with a smile.

"Hey, Luke, just finished serving those tables. Think I'm gonna go get ready for school," Rick said as he started to hang up his white apron. He looked over at Luke, who gave him a thumbs-up while balancing the phone between his head and shoulder, pouring coffee with his free hand.

Lorelai walked up to the counter with a grin, holding another coffee cup in hand.

Luke gave her a look. "What? It's not for me. It's for Rory, I swear," she said.

"You're shameless," he replied.

"Look, Officer Krupke. She's right at that table, right over there." Lorelai turned to point to Rory and saw the same guy from earlier talking to her. Luke filled the coffee cup. Rick followed his mom's eyes to the table.
