Gathering Supplies

This part has been done for awhile, I just forgot to post it lol

"...and then you showed up." Shifty finished explaining the story. His hands grasped the steering wheel tightly as he remembered the scene. He of course made sure to leave out the fact that he was attracted to Splendont, but part of him feared Lifty could see it on his face, especially because of the questioning look he was giving.

"What gem was he looking for? Did he say a name?" Lifty finally asked in response. He had his arm rested on the van door, leaning his head into his hand. He was switching between watching Shifty and the road. He still looked so uneasy. He wasn't red anymore, but Lifty could tell something was wrong.

Shifty locked his eyes with the road, trying to keep his attention on anything but Splendont. "Beats me. He was completely convinced I knew what he was talking about so I guess he didn't think it was necessary, and I didn't ask." Just a few more minutes and they should be at Handy's warehouse. They could quickly get the wood, nails, hardware, and cement or whatever else they thought to steal and get out of there.

With hesitation, Lifty finally spoke up. "Shifty, is everything good? I know something's on your mind." Earlier he just assumed his hunger was making him feel ill, but now it was obvious it was something else.

"Yeah, don't worry about me. I mean, I guess the situation's just bothered me more than I realized. I'm fine though, Lift. Really." Shifty could tell Lifty didn't believe him. He glanced over to him and saw the judgment on his face. He decided maybe he could just change the topic, maybe he'd stop asking about why he's been acting shifty. "Once we get there I'm gonna talk with Handy. I'll just ask him about basic shit and probably about his wife and construction business. I need you to quietly but quickly rob the place. It shouldn't be that bad, just some boards, hardware, anything that seems important. If he's not there I'll drive the van in and we can quickly load it."

Lifty stared at him for a second. He wanted to change the topic back, but he worried it might hinder their mission more. The plan and reasoning behind it sounded alright. Lifty couldn't come up with much better anyway. "Alright then. What do you think Splendont's doin' anyway?"

It was a harmless question, but Shifty really didn't want to think about him. He couldn't help it though, he imagined the fight again, and Splendont's physique. Just one more stop and they'd be there, and Shifty wouldn't be thinking about him anymore. "I dunno, probably tryna find that stupid ass crystal he wanted."

With that, they were finally at the site. Shifty drove around, looking for Handy, but he couldn't spot him. Assuming he was busy elsewhere, Shifty pulled into the empty plot. "Remember, quickly and quietly Lift. I'm gonna look around some more to make sure nobody's around."

Lifty nodded before hopping out of the car at the same time as Shifty. As planned, Lifty quickly went over to the stacks of wood, bags of concrete, and boxes of supplies. He glanced around for himself before stacking some planks and walking over to the van, throwing them inside. It was quiet enough for Lifty. He continued collecting things that seemed necessary, while Shifty ran off the opposite direction.

First he went towards the small building that resided next to the lot of hardware. He peered inside, but didn't see anything. He tried the door and found that it was locked. Perfect. No trucks in the parking lot, the building was locked up, and the supplies just had a measly chain to cover it. It should've been smooth sailing, but just as Shifty was walking away, he heard a small voice behind him.

"Hiya Mr. Green Man."

He turned around to see a little bear cub in a propeller hat with just a diaper on. Shifty looked around, but he didn't see anyone else around and couldn't understand where he even came from. "Hey. Uh, where's your parents at?" Shifty was less concerned about the kid's safety than he was concerned that his family could be nearby and that this kid might tell them if he sees Lifty taking some things.
