Ayan's POV

The sound that I hated the most, the alarm clock which couldn't shut the hell up and let me sleep after I survived yesterday's event. I already wanted to throw it out the door but then I noticed that Al was already awake - putting his clothes on.

"Shiaa... you are an early bird..." I was wiping my eyes when he approached me.

"You've got ten minutes, I'm taking Buddy out for a walk before we go to work." One more week... when is that woman coming back? I don't know if we can leave Buddy alone at home.

"My mom works too, can't we take him to my friends' condo? I'm worried about leaving him alone for the next eight hours and maybe more." Al stroked his neck.

"Right... I didn't expect our secretary would be gone for longer than one week but we seriously need you, Aye."

"Then... can't we just take him to our work?" Bad idea, he immediately frowned at me.

"No way. We could risk getting fired for that. I'll call Akk to ask him if he's free to come. They'll have their own place for the next eight hours. It shouldn't be a problem." Did he forget about what Khan said? I'm genuinely worried about our personal things here.

I was still trying to sleep again when he called Akk but it looked like there was a problem. Al nervously tapped his phone.

"Part-time jobs... they can't come."

"Not even Khan and Wat? They can't be working for sure after yesterday."

"They are not even home! Wat told Akk that he needs to reward Khan in a special way." So soon? They are fast.

"Then..." Deciding between him and our dog was seriously hard. I had responsibility for both, my work and my dog but I couldn't take care of both. Being an adult is not nice at all.

"Stay here, Buddy needs you. I'll explain it somehow..."

"I gave a promise! This wouldn't be good for my portfolio... but Buddy doesn't trust other people... I wish I could clone myself." I was pulling my hair while trying to find a solution for it.

"I'll lengthen your lunch break then and write it down so you won't be paid for the time when you'd be at home. Use it just to check on Buddy and to take him for a walk. Then you can eat in your office when you won't have much work to do. It's only between us, okay?"

"Yes, Boss. Actually... do you think you'll be the head of your department?"

"Sally deserves it more but I'm worried that our gender plays a big role there like at almost every work. I complimented her in front of the main boss but I don't know if that's enough." Right... women are discriminated against just like homosexuals, I'd almost forget after going just to all male high school.

When Al took Buddy out, I dressed up quickly and had a coffee, breakfast could wait but I had to give Buddy enough food and water before we left the house.

At work there was a big chaos and we didn't know what was happening but when Al and I walked in the bank, our colleagues quieted down. Seriously... did they have another problem with our relationship or what?

"Phi Alan! You didn't hear the news, right?" One younger man walked to us.

"What news?"

"You were promoted, congratulations!" Sally walked to us and gave Al a document with a decision from the headquarters.

"But the other one was fired... I don't think it's fair."

"Unlike me, you are able to maintain your respect among our coworkers and the director decided based on your portfolio, your master's degree and work experience. I've got a bachelor's degree so I'm not the right fit for it..." These all were valid points but Al didn't seem to be happy.
