A week has gone by and I can say with confidence that I'm already done with school. Not really because I have to finish this year. Then I'll be done. And thank heavens above for that.Going to class means I get to see Melody almost every day. Mondays and Wednesdays we have Literature and Writing, then on Tuesdays and Fridays we have Anthropology. Thursday is the only day I don't get to see her.
Speaking of Melody I sit down next to her as Professor Mike is talking with a kid in the front. Melody looks up noticing me and sends a gentle smile. "I thought you weren't going to come." She speaks. I barely hear her.
One thing that I've learned since talking with Melody is listening closely. She always speaks on a low octave and never dares to be louder. "There was an accident on Milton St." I explain.
Her face is immediately in worry. "Is everyone okay?"
"It was just a rear end." I should've led with that and not make it seem like a horrible wreck.
She lets a sigh out, "that's good-well not good. It's good that no one's gotten injured. Bad that they got rear ended. Because it could've been-"
"I'm glad it wasn't too bad either, pretty girl." I chuckle.
Melody smiles once again before turning back to the front. "Settle down kids." Mike calls out, my eyes linger on Melody before turning my attention to our professor. "Our first assignment will be a reading and annotation of Pride and Prejudice by no other than Jane Austin.
"I want you to read the book, and write a five page paper report about it and themes discussed." He messes with a paper on his desk before looking up, "this is a partnered assignment. You may begin."
My head immediately turns to Melody who is looking back. "Wanna be my partner, pretty girl." I ask.
"I don't know anyone else here so yes please." The mannerisms this girl has is impeccable. Melody is quite literally the definition of a sweet soul. I'm convinced she couldn't kill a spider even if she wanted.
"Sounds like a plan, darlin'." I smile at the nickname remembering that's what my dad calls my mom. I never thought I would call someone that but I also never thought I would go up to a girl in my own so...
Melody turns her body a little bit towards me, "do you want to set up times to do it-did he tell us when it's due?"
I shake my head, bring my computer up on the desk, "I'm sure it's on the lesson plans though."
My free hand rubs my chin as the other scrolls through my computer. I'm suddenly stopped, "is that your family?" Melody asks pointing to my Lock Screen.
"Yeah." It's a picture of when my parents took me and my sibling to Florida.
"You have a big family." She whispers.
