After getting my family to their hotels finally at 12:47 I cannot express how excited I am to sleep in my bed. As much as I love and adore my family, they're exhausting. Their hotel is in the city so unfortunately I have to drive another hour to get home.Getting in my Jeep, I start to make my way home when my cell phone rings. I furrow my eyebrows. Who's calling at this hour? Then I see Melody is calling. Why is she calling after midnight? Is she okay? Did something happen?
Millions of questions flood my mind as I swipe to answer the call while still in the deserted parking lot. "Melody?"
"Hey," she spoke quieter than normal. "Did I wake you?"
"No, no. I just dropped everyone off at their hotel. I'm still in the city." I groan while rubbing my eyes.
"Oh." A moment of comforting silence goes by.
"Are you okay?" I ask, "did something happen?"
"I'm fine, well somewhat fine." I hear her giggle through the phone.
A yawn escapes my lips, "what's up?" I really want to go to bed.
"Oh, I couldn't sleep. Thought I'd take you up on the offer from earlier." Even through the phone I could hear her hesitance.
A smile creeps on my face. "I'm glad. You need something?"
"I'm quite alright, but it sounds like you need sleep."
"Yeah, after dealing with my family all afternoon I definitely need sleep." I drag my hand across my face.
"Why don't you spend the night?" She suggests. "That way you don't have to stay up for another hour. I mean I would hate it if you got in accident for falling asleep behind the wheel."
It's not the worst idea. It would be easy. But wouldn't it be weird? "I don't want to impose." I chuckle.
"You won't. I'll sleep on the couch and you can sleep in my room. And before you argue, the couch is too small for you and you know that." It's like Melody knows me better than I know myself.
"I don't have clothes with me." Bullshit, I always keep an extra outfit in case something happens and need one.
"We both know that's not true." Melody 'scolds'. Something I have picked up in the short time I've known her is that Melody is incapable of getting mad or seeming intimidating.
"Are you sure it'll be alright?"
"I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't."
I let out a small chuckle and put my Jeep in reverse, "I'll be there in twenty minutes."

I got here in twelve minutes. Guess the roads are fester at night? As I pull into the gravel, I see a small figure sitting on the porch. I smile to myself and park my jeep before getting my things and walking up to Melody.
