Chapter 5: Secret Fiancé

"I thought you were gonna go to your room?" 

      Natsu's voice caught me off guard. His hand gripped my shoulder, causing me to flinch and face him with surprise. This guy, why did his name make my heart clench for a second?

       "Lucy, You seriously keep on zoning out." He chuckled, making what seems to be the sudden tense atmosphere that I builded, thankfully shatter. I paused, my lips parted making my mouth open, hoping the words that were at least hopefully decent, would magically come out from my mind-- my mind that was already full and tired of the problems of the curse, the earlier situation of Happy barging in the bathroom whilst I was still in nude and now, the problem of Natsu having his own secret fiancé!

       "Here." I flatly handed him the half-crumpled envelope with my face restraining to show anger that was already rushing through my body. "Why didn't you tell me that you had a fiancé!?" Apparently I couldn't hold it in any longer.

     "I have a ....fiancé?" He looked at me, just confused as I was.

       "Yeah!" I screamed, not accurately thinking of my retort. "Wait... What?" His earlier question now properly being digested in me. Is he acting like an idiot!?

       "Why do you sound like you don't know of this!?" I asked, angrier than before. Did he not want me to know? What the hell is his problem?

       "Natsu, Did you think you could keep this a secret forever?!! You know, I'll somehow find out about it!! Like... right now!!" I wailed.

       "Lucy, calm down." He sighed, his face slightly pale of the news. "And why are you so mad about it? Even if I did have a fiancé, it's not like it's any of your business." He stated, looking at me straight in the eye.

   I was going to harshly retaliate once again, my mouth already shaped of an O. But he was right. 

       It's none of my business, so why am I getting angry?

       In the first place, why did I even consider it as a problem of mine? 

     I looked down, baffled and slowly coming at peace. I bit my nails and narrowed my eyebrows. What am I doing? I should get a hold of myself. Why am I over-reacting? I should get ecstatic about this! Ecstatic!

     "Uhm..." I started with a not-really-believable smile. "I mean, Why didn't you tell me? W-We could've--" I paused, racking my brain desperately for an excuse. "....celebrated, y'know..." I trailed off. I completely believe I should be nominated for best in making things really awkward, If I say so myself.

       Stupid Lucy.

       "Sorry," His eyebrows narrowing as he read the back of the envelope. "But to be honest, I don't have any idea about this too." He nervously smiled at me, showing the look that he was utmost confused.  

     It took me aback. I don't know if the reason of that was because he apologized to me and also smiled, or was it that he also wholeheartedly didn't know. This complex situation was one I've never encountered before. After a while of absence of sound, Happy butted in the conversation.

       "What's with the atmosphere..." He killed the silence. "Oh Natsu! What are you holding?"

       "It's a letter..." He slowly exaggeratedly exhaled and pinned his eyes at him at him with great anguish, like he was literally shaking.

       "HOLY CRAP HAPPY WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!?!" He screamed in a voice singing obvious despair, as he crouched and held his hands at the back of his head, eyes wide open.

       "I....I...." He said in gloom, words repeating itself. "....I HAVE A FIANCÉ!!!" He swallowed what looked like an imaginary stone, turning his head up and towards Happy. His face reflecting horror, misery, uneasiness and terror-stricken all at once. I have to say...he looked kinda pitiful.

     Happy's smile froze for a second, then it dropped. "Natsu, I know you're desperation is at the nth limit but making up these kind of stories can't really make a real living, breathing, not to mention willing fiancé to magically appear; a friendly advice from a truly caring partner." He patted his back, comforting him while Natsu was still holding back his tears.

       "Oh God!" I bursted in laughter. His advice is killing me.

    "I'm not kidding!! Here!" Natsu handed Happy the letter while he childishly pouted. "I'm actucally a big shot you know? A real lady killer!" His imagination was way ahead of him. I could already see his nose quickly growing like he was some reincarnation of Pinocchio. Happy noticed the pale white envelope on his blue paws.

       "Where did you get this?" Happy scrutinized his looked towards Natsu, like he was eyeing him.

       "Ohohoho! You believe me now, right? I mean, I'm so handsome! Someone already wanted to be first in line fo-" 

       "Natsu! I know this envelope!" Happy interjected his impossible compliments for himself. Thank God. One more comment and I'd barf!

       "Huh?" Natsu glanced at Happy curiously. "Ah, Lucy gave it to me." He stated. I got alarmed. 

       "Lucy, Where did you get this?" Happy's attention now all on me.

      "U-Uhmm.." I smiled, looking elsewhere because of his intimidating eyes. "I-I found it on the floor! Really!" I hovered my hands up in complete innocence, sweatdropping.

      "This envelope... I got it when I was leaving the grocery store! It was from.... uhh." Happy softly placed his paw on his brain, trying to encourage his mind to remember what he was supposed to remember.

        "Ah!" He lit up in a smile. "It was from..." He trailed off, grinning.

       "From?" Natsu asked, notably curious.

       "Lisanna!" Happy excitedly flew in the air.

          "L-L-Lisanna!?" Natsu's jaw dropped.

       Hating the way they exclude me from the confusing conversation, I inserted. "Who's Lisanna?" 

       "She's...." Natsu glanced at me in specific agonizing horror.

      "She was Natsu's childhood giiiiiiiiirlfrieeend~" Happy sang in a taunting tone. "She's also my mommy!"

       "Girlfriend is exaggerating..." Natsu's expression instantly changed and his cheeks innocently grew into a light shade of pink. I'd never imagined he had it in him. "Someone I closely admired before, that's all." He looked up into the ceiling, slightly pouting as the shade of pink gradually became intense. Woah, could he really be that embarrassed?

     Thus, the conversation had officially gotten me staggered.
