We headed back to our table and held Natsu's cozy warm hand. It was dirty and I forced him to wash it, but it still had this rough man-skin over it or how should you call it. You know, like you can really tell the difference from a girl's soft, 24/7 moisturized hand to a guy's dominant and larger one. His hand had a few nicks and scars, but it really felt like you were, somehow, protected. It's such a nice feeling...
What the hell am I thinking?!
I quickly slapped my other cheek with my empty hand. Natsu got surprised. I narrowed my eyebrows. Lucy! Snap out of it! It's just because you've never held a guy's hand before (in this way) , that's why you are thinking like... this. Yup. So stop it already!
"Lucy, you look scary." Natsu said, boyishly and naively leaning in with his curious eyes. I stood there, innocently being a slow person. Like a small voice is taunting inside my head; 'Duh, Lucy, He's half an inch away from your face. React already.'
CRAP
I hurriedly took a step back the compensate the closeness between our faces, making a waiter fall off his balance and the food topple over. It was like a domino maze, created by the clumsy girl walking by. Me. It could turn out in a slow motion way, the food fell on another customer's pretty pastel dress (Which I assume by the cloth costs badly much) and the customer who got mad got up and slipped in a way that she grabbed another table's end and made it fall over, causing another customer mad. In short, chaos.
Oh no.
I'm in so much trouble.
"Lucy, Let's go!" I felt someone grip my hand and we both ran out the door. With my heart beating 3 times faster than usual, it felt like it was gonna voluntarily come out of my mouth. My feet were really having their own minds, because it followed the guy who saved me. Saved me from the angry people who I reckon are also half cats 'cause I was sure I saw all of their eyes glint in evident anger. I heard a muffled 'come back'. We just ran faster than ever. I swear, all my power was drowning into my legs because we were running mad. The waiter was still catching up, what stamina! I'm already giving away!
We had turned a corner and we were both struggling for air. They still ran forward, the cue of us successfully getting away. I heard my savior chuckle.
"That was fun. I didn't think you were a runner. Last time I checked, you were a home-princess right?" He grinned. I laughed, in the end. I hate to admit it, but I also enjoyed it. I felt alive. My blood was pumping and my heart was racing. Like I was complete. It was a total bliss.
"Why'd you save me?" I blurted out, after the chuckling faded and we both were gradually coming back to our normal breathing.
"Why?" Natsu repeated. "I don't know," He bluntly finished. I groaned.
"C'mon, answer." I teased with a hint of complaint in my tone. He semi-giggled.
"Maybe because you had this look on your face." He paused. "I had this urge to save you..." He trailed.
There was a moment of silence.
He brought his hands back behind his head in a carefree way and walked infront of me. "Well, let's go back to the castle. I think you had enough adventure today." He continued.
Wait, what did he mean by that?
He glanced back towards me. I froze.
"Let's go, Lucy." He childishly smiled and walked on. My face twitched an unbearable smile. He's such a kid. That Natsu...
WAIT A MINUTE.
No, Lucy.
You can't.
