Gally PoV
A little girl who was shorter than me, I naturally thought of her as weakest than any other Glader.
The girl who previously grimaced in pain when I dropped her accidentally, the girl who was overwhelmed by the Runner's training. It should have been the same girl.
I have underestimated her and I just realized that I see you as lower than me.
How could a girl like that take down two teenage boys so easily?
And also how could those words come out from her mouth the way as if she usually said them?
My body shivered when I saw her empty and cold eyes. Her expression truly reflected someone who didn't care whether someone's soul would be gone or not.
Her words were not just an outpouring of feelings, but more like an insistence on demands that must be fulfilled.
Although I agree that these losers should be put to death, but not by our own hands, but through the Griever.
But this girl is capable of doing it herself if she wants, if she is not restricted and is not stopped.
I wasn't the only one who was silent in horror at the look in her eyes.
I'm sure all the Gladers that present now want to pee their pants or run away, getting as far as possible from her reach.
Does she realize what she has done to us?
Whether Alby wanted to or just felt forced to, he managed to get out his voice to try to stop Riley from slitting the loser's throat. "Please, calm it down Riley."
Her eyes didn't change as she answered, "What are you saying? I'm really calm right now."
Was it her natural instinct that made her unaware of the killing intent emitting from her?
She made Alby stutter his speech just to beg for a girl to drop the knife.
Newt whispered close to me, "can't you do something about it?"
I glanced at him in disbelief, "what do you expect from me? Just like you, I also only met her one day ago. It's just a hallucination if you think I can change her mind."
Newt whispered again, "you won't know until you try, right?"
I shook my head quickly, "I won't. If you insist, do it yourself. Your calm nature is more favorable to the Gladers than my impulsive nature."
I don't know when the conversation with Alby ended, but when I turned my attention back to her, she looked at me. Everyone looked at me.
Gosh, what happened?
"Tell me, Gally...," she called in an even tone of voice. "Do you also think that they should be killed now? You agree with me, right?"
I caught Alby giving a negative signal in the form of glaring his eyes.
I was going to judge them beforehand, but her aura was stronger than my desire to beat them up earlier.
I have to stop her if I can," I think Alby got some points. They should be tried together, that way we can make strict new rules, so that this incident doesn't happen again."
Riley looked at me silently, whether she was considering it or criticizing my change of direction in taking legal action.
And God, did she realize she was only wearing a shirt at the moment?
The shirt she was wearing fell to her upper thighs, while her legs were completely bare. I don't even know if she was wearing anything underneath or not!
I also can't decide whether she looks like a Goddess of war or more like an angel of death.
Her body is short but her proportions are neither lacking nor excessive, it looks like the last puzzle piece that fits together easily with the other pieces, completing it.
The next thing I knew was that the knife had slipped to the ground, managing to scratch the loser's thigh slightly. Red liquid seeped out dyeing the fabric of his trousers a dirty dark red.
A feeling of relief immediately enveloped the Gladers, Alby swiftly took the knife before Riley could change her mind.
And as if automatically, Riley let go of the loser's hand, then turned around and walked back towards the bathroom.
She didn't seem bothered or in pain when she walked barefoot over branches, rocks and gravel. She just walked silently, without turning around or making any other comments.
I'm sure that starting tonight, without even being told, the Gladers have agreed that no one should peek again, or their lives will be lost next time.
