Chapter 4: Take off

???: I suppose you could consider this my last will... We came into contact with each other, and the world around us, without knowing much about either... We fought, laughed, and cried... And went through a lot together... We met the commander and friends and fought for humanity, becoming a shining beacon of hope... We bid farewell to some dear friends, and saw the world crumble around us... There were times when you wanted to give up... I know because I felt that way too... But, please... Never forget everything that you've overcome... You've kept the entire human race safe... You saved this world... Whatever you do, and wherever you go, nothing will ever change that... Be proud, you deserve it... I'm so happy, I was able to meet all of you... I don't want to leave... I hope you never get to see this---

"Snow White."

I woke from my daze as I heard I was called.

Rapunzel: "Are you alright?"

Snow White: "I'm fine, nothing to worry about me, but we worry more about Dorothy."

The one who called me was Rapunzel, she has long blonde braided hair that reaches her knees, Crystal-clear blue eyes, and Petite and delicate features. Her personality was Demure and reserved Saint-like aura, radiating an unwavering faith in God, she was Prayerful and introspective, often seeking solitude, Kind and compassionate, and always willing to help others.

Rapunzel: "Dorothy is struggling to come to terms with the loss of a person very dear to her, yet is finding it difficult to cope with the situation and Pinne is doing her best to provide comfort and support."

Scarlet: "We didn't know his real name, yet his selfless acts of salvation join at the ultimate sacrifice—a fitting tribute to a courageous warrior."

She commented for a deceased pilot, her name is Scarlet, and she has grey-white hair, Bright brown eyes that sparkle with intelligence and mischief, and a Slender and agile body, honed by years of sword training. Her personality is Confident and self-assured, deeply loyal and protective of those she cares about, and she has a strong sense of justice and a desire to right wrongs.

Rapunzel: "It's been a century yet I find it unbelievable that some of the GDUA's surviving members are on the surface. I couldn't stop to thank them for their sacrifice."

With a glimmer of hope in her eyes, Rapunzel uttered words that carried the potential to change the course of the war. Her voice was filled with determination and optimism as if she firmly believed that victory was within reach to the world in peace.

As I turned my head to glance at the group behind me, I saw a sea of faces, all bearing the same heartbroken expression. Many of Nikke's mass production, march together towards a shared goal, only to be let down by the Ark's sudden betrayal. Amidst the desolation, some stood tall with an unwavering spirit, comforting their comrades in this crisis. Others, perhaps more reticent, silently reminisced about the day when a lone mech had come to their rescue, saving them from certain doom.

Scarlet: "What's our plan for now? we're heading towards their settlements, yet 'tis getting dark."

Snow White: "I'm going to find the shelter for us."

Scarlet: I'm joining you.

Rapunzel: "Be careful you too, I'm right behind her for Dorothy."

As Rapunzel made her way towards the duo of Nikkes, she couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between the two. The first Nikke was a Mass Production model, dressed in full combat gear and carrying a shotgun. Despite her intimidating appearance, her clear blue-green eyes caught Rapunzel's attention. She and Dorothy were close friends.

Rapunzel: "Dorothy..."

Pinne looked worriedly at a nun, while Dorothy lightly chimed in with the two nikkes. Pinne eventually patted Dorothy's arm to get her attention and respond.

Pinne: "Dorothy."

Dorothy: ...

There is no reaction, as Dorothy ignores her while looking at the ground.

Rapunzel: Snow White and Scarlet will scout for our shelter to rest... How are you, Dorothy?

Dorothy, exudes an aura of kindness and warmth, welcoming them with a gracious and hospitable demeanor that seems almost angelic. But beneath her serene exterior lies a deep sorrow that has taken a heavy toll on her. Her once pristine wings, symbolic of her ethereal nature, are now tattered and torn, a poignant reflection of the emotional wounds she carries within.

Dorothy: ...

With Dorothy's silence lingering, Pinne felt compelled to intervene, her expression reflecting deep sadness.

Pinne: "I'm sorry Rapunzel, she can't speak right now..."

Rapunzel: "It's all right Pinne, just keep staying on Dorothy's side, be there for her."

Rapunzel has no choice but to leave them, but after she leaves.

Rapunzel: "Dorothy, remember that we are here to support you through this tough time."

As the sky began to dark, Rapunzel and the other members of the Nikkes group grew weary from their long walk. Fortunately, they had enough supplies to sustain them, thanks to an unnamed Pilot who had enough supplies to help them with what they needed. Each member of the group was also able to collect enough supplies to carry with them. The group had recently suffered many casualties during the first then weeks of Operation: Ark Guardian, particularly the mass production that defended the gate. However, everything changed when the Pilot joined them, only to tragically pass away soon after. In the aftermath of his death, we got the message from the ark that the people in it were very thankful, yet we could not enter by the orders of the Central Government, their intentions were unknown.
