Chapter 3: Pain in Waves: Commitment

The days went as fast as I could imagine, and within no time, we were in the sixth semester. Without any clear conversation or commitment, we used to act like a couple. But in fact, we were not.

On the last day of our Exams, I decided to initiate the conversation since our college days were over and I wanted to know what the future holds for us. So I decided to give it a try. I summoned all my courage and messaged him.  

'I want to talk to you about something serious after the Exams. Please make time for me and meet me near the parking lot' I texted.

'Okay!' He replied.

I was so anxious that I was not able to revise for the exams and also attend the exams properly. I dragged myself to finish all the things and meet him at the parking lot. I saw him coming with a girl whom I had seen many times, talking to him. Like always I chose to ignore this time too telling myself to focus on the things I wanted to discuss.

'Hi there' I said with my Dashing smile.

'Hi. Woooh! We are wearing the same colours' he excitedly greeted me. 

We were wearing a Red and Black colour combination dress. It surprised me when I saw him too. I assumed that this was a sign from the universe for me to go for it!

'Shall we go somewhere quiet so that we can talk?' I asked.

'I was about to ask you the same thing. Well, leave your scooter here, let's go in mine. I will drop you back here since I have an appointment with our Lecturer' he said casually.

We went to the nearest park. Our college is surrounded by many parks. So it was common to go there. I sat on one of the benches and I was nervous. My heart was beating so fast that I could hear them through my ears. I was trying to calm myself down. 

All of a sudden, He held my hands gently and my heart skipped a beat! I was surprised and looked at him and he said, 'This is what you wanted to talk about right?' showing our hands. I was speechless. How did he know what I wanted to talk about? How!!!!! My heart screamed with joy for no reason. 

'Y...eesss! I spluttered.

He pulled me towards him held my face gently and asked, 'You wanted to ask whether we are in a relationship or not?' His eyes were intensely gazing at me.

'Ye....s.." This is all I could say! I was running out of words. The Truth was dumbfounded by his actions.

He took his sweet time to start a conversation after he was done gazing intently at me. I was blank and I could feel all the blood rushing towards my cheeks. This is the moment, this is the feeling I would like to hold on to it forever!

'Yes. I cannot imagine my future without you in it' he said calmly.

He continued, 'I would love to declare that you amuse me every day. I feel free, and happy with you. I care for you because I want to. I feel like to be with you because I want to. So yes, I would love to make this unspoken relationship an official one. What do you think about this?' he said observing me closely.

'I know I am supposed to tell you how I feel about you. But right now, all I can say is Same here' I managed to explain my situation.

He touched my cheeks with his palm and directly attacked the gazing war on me, making me more nervous than before. 'I know' he teased me. ' I know you cannot speak clearly when I am too close to you. I am just taking the fullest advantage today out of all three years. Because I wanted to see the same reactions you are giving to me' He laughs wholeheartedly.

Somehow, this whole feeling made me feel safe. And immediately I realised that are we a proper couple now? Is he my boyfriend now? Are we in a relationship officially? I started to get lost in my chain of thoughts. 

'We are officially a couple now. Isn't it?' he asked.

I nodded to him with my shyness. My cheeks were behaving weirdly I felt.

Just like that, we became a couple. As Nakashtra finished narrating her love story, looked at the Moon. Somehow, she felt relieved after letting this out in the air. She smiled at the Moon. 'Thank you, Moon. For being there for me She said a little louder as she was about to go downstairs, 

The shadow which was listening to her story, also smiled and said, 'Good Girl' in a faint voice.
