**INT. CALTECH CAFETERIA - DAY**

Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Rajesh are having lunch. Sheldon is meticulously arranging his food into separate sections on his tray.

Leonard: So, Rafael mentioned he's a software engineer. I wonder which company he's working for.

Howard: Maybe he's at SpaceX. We could use a guy with his Star Wars passion.

Rajesh: Or he could be working on some secret AI project.

Sheldon: If he were working on a truly significant AI project, it would be classified. And I would know about it.

Just then, Rafael walks into the cafeteria with a tray, scanning the room for a place to sit. The guys saw him and was confused why he's in Caltech of all places.

Leonard: Hey, Rafael! Over here!

Rafael was shocked also but smiles after and walks over to join them.

Rafael: Hey guys! Mind if I join you?

Leonard: Not at all. So, how's the new job?

Rafael: It's been great so far. Everyone's been really welcoming.

Howard: So, where are you working exactly?

Rafael: Oh, I thought I mentioned it. I'm actually working here at Caltech.

Sheldon: (perking up) Here? At Caltech? What department?

Rafael: Computer Science. I'm part of the AI and Machine Learning group.

Leonard: That's amazing! We had no idea you were here.

Rafael: Yeah, I started just last week. Still getting settled in.

Rajesh: So, you're one of us now. Welcome to the nerd herd.

Sheldon: Fascinating. I suppose I shall have to keep a closer eye on you. For scientific purposes, of course.

Rafael: (laughing) Of course, Sheldon.

**INT. STUART'S COMIC BOOK STORE - NIGHT**

The gang is browsing comics at Stuart's store. Sheldon is meticulously flipping through a stack of vintage issues, Leonard is searching for the latest science fiction graphic novels, and Howard and Rajesh are discussing the latest Marvel movies. Rafael walks in and heads straight for the Star Wars section.

Stuart: Hey, guys. Good to see you all. Can I help you find anything?

Howard: Actually, Stuart, meet Rafael. He's new to Pasadena and a huge Star Wars fan.

Stuart: Nice to meet you, Rafael. You're in the right place. We have a great selection of Star Wars comics unless you want to classify fanfiction HanLea as one.

Rafael: Thanks, Stuart. I've been meaning to check this place out. I heard some things.

Sheldon: Rafael, do you have the first issue of the 1977 Star Wars comic series?

Rafael: I do. Mint condition.

Sheldon: Impressive. You may have passed the first test of Sheldon's friendship requirements.

Stuart: I do also need to be mint, (pause) So, Rafael, what do you do?

Rafael: I'm a software engineer at Caltech, focusing on AI and machine learning.

Stuart: Caltech, huh? You're in good company here. These guys are practically legends at being a nerd.

Leonard: Don't listen to him. We're just regular scientists.

Rafael: Well, it's nice to have found a group of like-minded people. Makes settling in a lot easier.

Howard: We usually hang out here on Wednesdays for new comic book day. You should join us.

Rafael: Sounds like a plan. I'll be here.

**INT. APARTMENT 4A - NIGHT**

The group is back at Leonard and Sheldon's apartment, discussing the latest comic book releases. Sheldon is scribbling something on his whiteboard.

Sheldon: Rafael, given your expertise in AI, I've been working on a theoretical algorithm for predicting comic book market trends. Would you be interested in collaborating?

Rafael: Sure, Sheldon. Sounds like an interesting project.

Leonard: Look at that. Sheldon making a new friend. This must be documented (phone click) for future blackmail.

Amy: It's great to see you fitting in so well, Rafael.

Penny: Yeah, you're like one of us now. I mean one of them but I hope you're also one of the gals.

Rafael: Thanks, everyone. I'm really enjoying getting to know all of you.

Howard: By the way, we should take Rafael to The Cheesecake Factory tomorrow. It's a tradition.

Penny: Agreed. You'll love the food there. Except when Sheldon read through the 20 pages and didn't order anything.

Rajesh: And the company. We're pretty entertaining. Some of us.

Sheldon: Yes, and it's an excellent opportunity for further observation and Raj, I hope you're one of the non-entertaining friend.

Rafael: (laughing) I look forward to it. Thanks, guys.

The group continues chatting and laughing, the bonds of friendship growing stronger. Rafael feels more at home than ever, excited for the adventures and discoveries that lie ahead with his new friends.
