Varun sat in the campus cafeteria all by himself after the orange sun had disappeared into the horizon behind the Californian hills. Eating a green kiwi flavoured pie of jell-o as his mind wandered into empty space, he heard a voice from the door across the cafeteria."Eating alone?" asked Sophie as she walked past the tables towards Kathani.
"My mind's not resting. It's been so odd the past few days. Forget finding those files filled with the oddest old rejected InGen projects." said kathani.
"Well, it's fine. Finding a file filled with plans to create a human and dinosaur war hybrid isn't the most pleasing thing in the world. I've taken the files and put them in a place. So that these frauds don't find them. To be honest they wouldn't even dare to-" said Sophie as she was cut off by Varun.
"I saw Vikram's computer." He said in a trembling voice.
"What?" asked Sophie.
"Mhm. He got an e-mail...from MantahCorp." said Varun.
"I thought they got closed by the government? I swear the kids from the camp-" said Sophie as she got cut again.
"I know... I know... Mhm.... Someone must have started the company again from some insider. They got all the files, reports, our... darkest secrets." said Kathani as he ate the last spoon of jell-o on his plate.
"How do you know that?" asked Sophie with a flabbergasted face of both intrigue and terror.
"They wrote an e-mail to me a few hours after I read the one of Vikram's computer. It's blackmail. They said if I don't send them the last few genomes and embryos that InGen had been curating, they were going to kill Vikram." said Varun
"Varun, How is god's name are you this calm? Do you know where they are?" said Sophie."Oh I know. That's why I'm calm. Vikram is in Isla Sorna. Along with two other people. I checked their backgrounds. Not a part of MantahCorp. My team is arriving there tomorrow. I just send them an order to get those three back too."
Said Varun.Sophie looked at Varun's face as she laid back on the chair letting out a big sigh.
As the blanket of the orange evening took over the skies, the MantahCorp team, Vikram, Jane and Zach combed through the redwood trees leaving behind the destroyed plane. As they walked a further distance, a stream of water was seen going perpendicular to their direction.
"Seems as if it's coming from a larger water body near by" said the commander.Walking for miles and past hundreds of trees, the team finally set a large camp in a large grassland field miles away from the crash site. As the team slowly fell asleep from the sounds of the wind and crickets, Vikram felt the anxiety kicking in. He knew the MantahCorp team wouldn't do anything to save them. They were just there as pawns. As the realisation hit, he slowly walked out of his tent with his baggage, and went into Jane and Zach's tent. He told them what was wrong. Everything they promised on the phone call. Turns out, all three of them got different things in return and different stories. Jane's story was that MantahCorp was trying to save the dinosaurs away from InGen and using them for medicine and research. While for Zach, they promised that InGen could use the resources gained at this expedition and since he worked in the lab, could himself research on them. The chills took over their bodies as they realised it was all a big hoax and that MantahCorp was tied with any big organization with a trustworthy background and that it was a shady business. As the three of them finally understood what was happening. They had been studying each of three of them and their interests and convincing them using those interests to come with them to the island. They packed up and left the MantahCorp camp site as soon as possible and into the giant mangrove forests and baniyan trees in the distance. Disappearing into the thick fog.
The sun waking up, rose upon another fateful gloomy day in the International Genetics Headquarters. Waking up with a headache, Varun sat in his CEO quarters looking through some mail and flipping through more old InGen projects and classified material. The thing was, if InGen were to report MantahCorp's illegal underground activity even after they were lawfully closed after the events of the camp Cretaceous, they would have to explain and testify in the court their reasoning for setting up their own illegal cameras, sensors and spies to the island. Everything going on at this moment was illegal and under the carpet. No government official, or anyone in the main world knows whatever is happening between these corporations and on that silent island.
"Headache medicine?" said Sophie standing at the door holding a tray with a glass of water and a pill.
"It's fine. I just need to go through these papers again. It's getting overwhelming. So many things hid from the public and company insiders." said Varun
"Aren't you scared of Vikram being on sorna without you there?" asked Sophie.
"I'm not scared about him being on sorna with MantahCorp. I'm only scared about.... the big one." said Varun.
"What... big one?" Questioned Sophie.
"A horrific monstrosity that scars but doesn't die and rises up from flames every. single. time." Said Varun."You are now at : Middle Sorna, Isla Sorna
co-ordinates on screen"
- Jane's GPS"We've been walking the whole night. We need to rest. I'm sleepy." Said Zach.
"We can't. There's all sorts of diabolical bullshit out here. We need to keep safe till we find some building." Said Vikram
"Do you guys have any snacks? I'm hungry" said Zach.Jane was keen on getting out of the island as soon as possible. She wanted to go back to New York with her fiancée and her dogs. She couldn't stay there anymore. She stared out into the distance as she walked. Hidden behind the trees she saw some sort of stone structure.
"Jane....JANE?" screamed Vikram.
"Guys, I think I found something" said Jane as she ran towards the building fast. The other two being extremely concerned, started chasing her down the hill into the thorny bushes, prop roots, and tons of thick vegetation. As they found her they started yelling at her "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT. WHAT THE HELL, JANE?!". Until they saw what she was seeing. A tall stone pyramid. Not the ones in Egypt. These were pyramids found in places like Central America, and Latin America.
"Mayan Pyramids." Said Vikram as some sort of deja-vu like feeling rushed through his brain.
"How do you know about these?" Said Zach.
"I'm not an Archeologist but I remember some InGen workers back in the day, including my dad talking about Mayan Pyramids on Isla sorna. I never thought about it and frankly forgot about them. I can't believe you found these, Jane.
"Are they... Dangerous?" Asked Jane.
"Don't worry... they're not booby trapped. Most likely just abandoned. MantahCorp could care less about this place and it's almost perfectly hidden. We can rest out here for a while." Said Vikram.
