CHAPTER 8

Khushi's POV

At chhavi's house -:
Chhavi - So, you're not telling why we have this sudden slumber party?
Khushi - I just ....felt like having a slumber party with you .
Chhavi - *rolls her eyes* sure . And i hate fish. I mean im not complaining I've always wanted to see.... The horrendous murder of Ralph Baker . Great movie to watch before you go to bed .
Khushi - You don't like horror movies ?
Chhavi - Usually, people don't.
Khushi - I've always loved watching them .
Chhavi - That's not creepy at all .

Then i got a text notification from Sidharth.
On chat -:
Sid - Where are you ?

Why is he texting me?! Shouldn't he be ....at it now? Whatever . I didn't reply and stsrted watching the movie again .
Sid - REPLY.
Who does he think he is?!
Khushi - You can't talk to me like that,idiot. And by the way it's none of your business where I am . Goodbye , sidharth.
Sid - Just say where you are .

And then I had an idea .
Khushi - I'm with a guy right now , Sidharth. So stop texting me . It's annoying.

Don't know what to say now, Malhotra, do you?
Sid - What guy!?
Khushi - None of your business.
Sid - Rish?
Khushi - Why do you even care?
Sid - Just tell me who it is , Khushi.
Khushi - Have fun with your date .
Sid - What do you mean ?

Chhavi - Who are you texting?
Khushi - MY MOM!
Chhavi - You're so excited to text with your mom...?
Khushi - Yes,sure.

I kept my phone away and started watching the movie again .
Sid - Come to the playground.

Huh?!
Sid - Now.
Is he crazy?
Sid - If you don't, I'll call your mom and tell her where you are .
WHAT! He....wouldn't call her would he.....? It's freaking Sidharth of course he would! I'm not even with a guy! But my mom would get suspicious. I looked around and saw that Chhavi was fast asleep .
Khushi - I'll come.

At the garden -:
Where the hell is he ? Oh shit... Don't tell me I fell for some prank again! I should've known. And suddenly snowflakes were falling down the sky. I couldn't remember the last time I had seen snow . The snowflakes looked so beautiful...

Sidharth- Khushi.
Khushi - S-Sidharth!
He came towards me and pushed me to the wall with his hand on my waist .
Khushi - W-w-what are you doing?!
I was barely able to speak.
Sidharth- Who were you with?
Khushi - Like I said.... It's none of your business.
Sidharth- Just say it , for god's sake!!
Khushi - Why are you even here?! Aren't you busy with that cheerleader?
Sidharth- What?
Khushi - Kiara.
Sidharth- What about her?
Khushi - She saidthat she'd come over to your place, tonight...
Sidharth- That's bullshit.
Khushi - Oh.
Sidharth- Were you jealous? Is that what this is all about?
Khushi - Are you stupid?! Jealous?Me?!Because of you? Get over yourself, Malhotra. Why did you wanna meet up ?
Sidharth- I don't know . I just felt like coming here.
Khushi - With me?

Sidharth looked at me like he expected something from me . Like he wanted me to understand without him explaining.
Sidharth- Whatever. Why didn't you want me to come over,last night?
Khushi - I.... You're confusing, okay.
Sidharth- Me? You're the confusing one,Khushi.

Whenever Sidharth said my real name in that serious tone, I noticed my heart skipping a beat which didn't make any sense . He walked away and I followed him .

Khushi - How am I confusing?
Sidharth- First, you're an awkward bookworm and now...

He knelt to his knees
Sidharth- You break into schools.

Then he suddenly pulled me onto his lap and made me straddle him , I automatically wrapped my arms around him to steady myself. His eyes were still on mine, but after a while they slowly went down to my lips and my breath caught midair. He didn't even try to hide his obvious stare . He simply didn't care. He had always been like that . Never pretentious, never not true to himself. It's what drew people to him . He didn't care what others thought about him . He never did .

Sidharth- Why did you come ?
Khushi - B-Because you said you'd snitch on me...
Sidharth- Is that all?
Khushi - Yes.

His hands lightly slid up my leg , sending shivers down my spine.

Sid - I see.... Do you wanna leave now?
Khushi - No .
I wanted to be in his lap for awhile. I didn't know what bravery took over me in that moment, but my words now lingered between us .
Sidharth- Okay.
It was all he said and his hand started moving again . Slowly up and down my leg. I could feel the warmth of his hands through the fabric of my clothes As well as my heartbeat drumming my lungs out . I lightly nibbled on the collar of his jacket more so out of nervousness. But I noticed how he stiffened underneath me whenever i moved my fingers just like his breath stilled. Only his stupid hand wouldn't stop moving on my leg, making it impossible for me to calm down.
Sidharth- We should go now. It's getting cold.
Khushi - Yeah.
I replied , trying my absolute best to hide the disappointment in my voice .

Next day -:
Sidharth had driven me home . Not back to the "guy" but to my home. What also meant that- I QUICKLY CHECKED MY PHONE .
On chat-:
Chhavi - Where the hell are you?!
Khushi - Chhav! I'm so sorry!! I'm home again. Something urgent came up and I had to leave!
Chhavi - Why didn't you wake me up, you idiot?!
Khushi - You looked so cute. I just couldn't do it.
Chhavi - 🙄wake me up next time!
Khushi - Will do!

Mom - KHUSHI!!
Me - Yes?!
Mom - We need to go grocery shopping!

Oh man...
Me - Sure mom!

At a mall-:
Khushi - You said grocery shopping! Why are we in a mall?!
Mom - Calm down,baby. I just wanna take a quick look at fe- oh that looks cute!

And she ran away! And there i saw the cheerleaders. Kiara, Devi and the others!! Oh my god. I need to hide! I saw an artificial tree and decided to hide behind it!

Devi - Isn't that.... Khushi.
Kiara - The new girl.

I walked towards them .
Kiara - Were you hiding from us?
And then they started laughing.
Khushi - You're not that important to me Kia.
Kiara - It's Kiara!
Devi - What are you doing here?
Khushi - It's a mall. I'm shopping.
Devi - Alone?
Khushi - Yes. I'm all by myself.

Mom - KHUSHI BABY!!
Kiara - Is that your mom?
Khushi - No, I don't know that woman.
Mom - Khushi! Over here!

I banged my head .
Kiara - You're such a loser Khushi.
Khushi- Well not as much as a loser as to pretend I'm seeing someone when I'm not.
Kiara - What are you on about?
Khushi - Do your friends know, Kiara? That you and sidharth didn't meet up yesterday?
Devi - What is she saying?
Kiara- She's talking bullshit! Are you so jealous of my relationship with Sidharth, new girl?
Khushi - Not really. I mean after all I was the one seeing him last night. Greetings from Sidharth.

And i went away !!
