It was sunny in Auradon, the air warm as it hit Y/n's cheeks. She felt quite tired, but she knew she should've expected it. When adrenaline rushes through one's body, it works directly on keeping the person alive, but as a consequence leaves the person quite tired after it wears off.
She yawned with a stretch, absentmindedly picking at her bowstring as Lonnie promised to get the swords they'd borrowed back to the gym.
"Thanks," Jay nodded.
"See you later."
Y/n watched Lonnie walk away before stopping again to yawn even wider than she had before.
"You seem tired, princess," Asher commented smoothly, his hands relaxed in his pockets.
The said princess rubbed her eyes with a deadpan. "Wow, I didn't even notice."
Asher smiled. "You should get some sleep. The big night's tonight, after all."
Y/n followed Asher's gaze to Carlos, who was absentmindedly looking back at her, blushing of embarrassment and giving a small smile when their eyes met.
Y/n smiled also. "Yeah, I should."
Having given a side hug to Asher, she walked to Carlos. "It seems we're staying. For tonight, at the very least."
Carlos smiled. "That's great! Uhh, shall we go together, then?"
Y/n nodded, stifling another yawn. "Sure, just... I should take a nap before that. And a shower, probably."
The white-haired boy smiled at the girl's bluntness. "Fine by me. Meet at... 5:30?"
Y/n nodded again. "See you then." She leisurely gave the boy a hug before leaving, not realising that she'd left the boy standing there, dumbfounded.
Asher walked up to Carlos, coming to a stop as they both watched the girl walk away.
"She really cares about you, you know?"
Carlos looked up at Asher at the words. The son of Alice looked back at Carlos seriously. "And I know I've told you the likes of this before but take good care of her. It seems that growing up has also grown us apart and I can't do it as well anymore, though I'd want to."
Carlos nodded, appreciating the sentiment behind the words. "I will, Asher." He smiled before the next words, knowing that they were true. "She's everything to me."
Asher smiled. "Good. Because she's everything to her country, too." And with that, the royal-guard-to-be walked away, leaving Carlos with a new thought to grasp — that if anything were to happen to Y/n under his watch, he could possibly wreck a whole country.
