The rain dripped in the background, the gloomy light shone through the partly open blinds. The memories played like a wildfire in her mind.
"Why do you think you are suffering from depression, Miss Alexia?"
It was a horror to know that she sat in the same room she killed, but she did it for purpose, for her husband... for their family. It has been three days since Kaya killed her husband and buried him in the depths of hell by their home, and her son was gone with her mother.
She knew that Jenna wouldn't hide long enough, she would flee, but when and where? Questions pilled up with more questions unable to find an answer. It was Kaya's job... no, it was her duty as a mother to protect her child even if it means to kill.
Listening to the teardrops of the angels from above and the soft thunders crashing down from far away was a testament to Kaya noting that her journey had only begun. Killing her husband was the first and now getting her son back was the second.
As she sat in the dim lot room the thunder struck down, making Kaya's ears ring until she saw it with her own eyes, he was sitting right in front of her the chair where his beloved slut had tried to escape.
Seeing his eyes still full of life was like a horror to her, he was with her in the room, and wouldn't leave her alone. But as she tried to hold back her accusation the words slipped like soap on a tiled floor unable to stop it, "Y-you brought this to yourself." Kaya notes.
Seeing that at the corner of his lips curled into a soft smile, mischievous and trickster he replied his deep voice cutting through the thick air of tension like a knife, "I didn't do anything, Kaya, you killed me... remember?" He adds, "You were too self-centered to realize the truth-"
Kaya interjects, "What truth!?"
"Don't worry and the truth... you will see it for yourself one day... but for now, you are stuck with me-" Her demon of the past told her after vanishing from the next thunder strike.
Was Kaya delusional? Was she tired? These questions wouldn't have any answer soon but seeing her dead husband in front of her was something she didn't have a plan for.
The room starts to fill with a thick air of silence after Lucas cuts through it. Kaya swallowed she stood from her chair and looked back at the oak desk... her oak desk, a remembrance of the times she sat through the nights and into the dawns trying to help her patients.
The pendulum, the small clock... the wire. She walked around the room listening to the rhythmic drop of the rain feeling the relaxing energy breathing new life into her.
But Kaya could only do so much, until she had enough, she walked out of her office only to meet with Karina standing in the doorway across from Kaya's office watching as her young patient leaves with their guardian.
Knowing their relationship has shed a lot of tears the bandages of Kaya's empathy haven't fully healed the wounds of the past. She sighed and locked the door behind her as she walked down the stairs only to hear Karina following her.
She passed Kaya saying, "C'mon let's go and talk about it."
Kaya was confused by Karina's demand, knowing they hadn't talked since why would Karina try and rekindle a broken relationship?
Both exited the building Karina holding an umbrella above their heads. As they walked through the soft raindrops Karina looked at Kaya noting that she wanted to talk.
Kaya looks back at Karina and sighs knowing that this day will come, "What is on your mind?" Karina asks.
Kaya looked out at the distance her mind racing over all the lies she could use but knowing that Karina works with children she has heard almost every lie from 'nothing is wrong' to 'I don't know'.
Kaya then broke the silence of the raindrops dripping on the umbrella. "I killed him Karina... my father of my child... he- he's gone, I killed him, poisoning him to the ground."
Kaya could feel the energy in the air shifting, it was dark, unsure, and worried. "Kaya I know that we haven't talked for a moment but... don't you think what you did was wrong?"
"What do you mean!?" She asks in confusion adding, "He chose someone else over me, and he was a father who does that!?"
"People who are in love, Kaya."
"Bullshit! He loved me, he was supposed to love me! That was his vow, he would always love me, he would always fight for me!" Kaya screamed letting small tears form in the corner of her eyes, "He had to love me! That was his wish when he proposed!"
Karina was speechless, she didn't have anything to say her words hung in the air, and looked at Kaya turned around, and walked off in the rain.
Their friendship was already so fragile. She had nothing to say to her, she had her problems and by looking at Kaya walking through the rain she knew she wouldn't stop.
Walking through the rain Kaya could feel how her tears stood out from the rest of the raindrops on her face.
Walking only forward she stopped at the Enigma Café. She enters the cafe, her wet clothes dripping on the floor her hair on her face and her eyes red. The eyes looked at her until she saw Dean - her father - sitting at the back with a small espresso by his side.
Kaya walked toward him her trail of drops following her, she stood at the table and watched as her father's eyes met hers. His eyes only showed the truth... a deep truth Kaya needed to discover.
She sat down looking at how he closed his book and took off his glasses. Kaya's breathing was slow and calm. The silence between them was palpable, until Dean broke it, "What do you want Kaya?"
Kaya looked into his eyes, hers was red and swollen from the tears she cried, her father was cold but true... she sighed and replied, "Where is she taking him-?"
