Miranda got off the plane with her carry-on bag and walked to the rental car place to pick up the car she ordered.

It was going to take her thirty minutes to get from the airport to his city. She was nervous as hell and just kept praying that he was single and would want her again.

She would be devastated if this didn't go as planned. She listened to music the whole ride and smiled lightly when she finally made it down to his street. She felt at peace like a small sense of calm came over her. The memories all coming back.

Ben's truck was in the driveway and Miranda didn't waste time and got out. As she got closer to the front door her heart began to pick up in speed. She had rehearsed what she wanted to say over one thousand times but it now seemed to just leave her.
Knocking on the door, she blew out a breath and waited but nothing could have prepared her for the person standing at the door.

Her hopes immediately sank at the sight of a taller brown-skinned woman standing there, her belly swollen from pregnancy. Miranda looked her over multiple times. She was pretty and pregnant. Pregnant and inside of Ben's house with pajamas on. For a long moment, jealousy and disappointment clouded Miranda's thoughts.

"Hi, how may I help you?"

Miranda was still stuck. It couldn't have been. He said he loved her and he wouldn't love anyone else and now he was having a baby with someone. The thought alone made her want to cry. Then anger coursed through her at the many images of him sleeping with this woman flashed forward.

"Ms?"

"I'm sorry uh, is Ben home ?" She asked softly.

"No, he's actually at the fire station right now. Can I help you with something?" She smiled rubbing her stomach.

"The fire station? And I'm sorry. Who are you?"

"Yes, ma'am he is a firefighter. He graduated from the academy last month." She informed.

Miranda's eyes widened but then she felt happy. He was doing good for himself and found something he loved to do as a career. She didn't understand why he would choose something so dangerous though, but then again this man was used to danger. Fire would not scare him.

"I'm Bria, Ben's coworker. And you are?"

"Are you just his co-worker or???

Bria giggled before rubbing her hands on her stomach. "I'm just his coworker. I wanted to be more but he wasn't giving me or anyone else the time of day." She laughed and Miranda blew out a breath of relief.

"I'm Miranda, Ben's -

"Oh, your Miranda-

"I don't know if your response is a good or bad thing," Miranda said lightly.

"Maybe both," she smiled. "He said you are the only person that he's ever loved and it broke his heart when you left. The next-door neighbor had tried for months to get his attention but he wouldn't budge."

Miranda refrained from rolling her eyes because why was she smiling and Tiffany should be ashamed of herself. She probably didn't even give it 3 weeks of her being gone before she tried something with Ben.

"I'm here to mend that. So if you could give me the address to the station I would be most thankful."

Bria gave Miranda the address to the station and she got into her car and drove in that direction.

The outside of the fire station was nice. It was modern but still gave off an old-town feel.

She walked inside and looked around. It was fairly quiet and no one was placed at the front desk. A whistle blew and she could hear a man yell go. She followed the direction of that voices and walked through the door.
