Miranda walked out of work with her bag on her shoulder. She smiled to herself when she saw Ben sitting in his truck waiting on her.

"Miranda," Dr. Matthews called out catching her attention.

"Yes sir?" She replied turning around.

"I told you you could call me by my name outside of the building."

Miranda didn't say anything but she nodded. "I just wanted to say thank you for today with the diagnosis of the woman earlier. I would have never thought of MALS. You're smarts impress me every day."

"Oh, it was no problem. I'm happy to help."

"You are exactly what the saying is. Beauty and brains and I was thinking that w-

"Miranda let's go," Ben said loudly causing Miranda and Dr. Matthews to turn their heads.

She blushed heavily. "I'm sorry Dr. Matthews,  I have to go. See you tomorrow," she said almost embarrassed but also fearing for this man's safety. Ben only kept himself in check when dealing with her and Khalil.

"Good evening," he said embarrassed fixing his tie.

Miranda didn't even look back at the man as she walked to the truck. Ben opened the door for her which was a first. He didn't do shit like that at all.

"How long has he been crushing on you?" Ben asked when he got into the driver's side.

"No how was your day?" She said sarcastically.

"Okay, hey, how was your day and my question before. How long has he been crushing on you."

"Uh, he asked me on a dinner date at his house about a month or two ago."

"And what did you say?"

"I told him I couldn't."

"You couldn't? You need to go in there and tell that man tomorrow no."

"I'm sure what you did a few minutes ago was enough."

"I'm serious. I can't and no are two different things. So you go in there and you tell him no and you are unavailable. No wonder he is still flirting and trying. His eyes were glued to your ass when you were leaving. You either tell him that or I'll fix it so he'll never be able to look at you clearly again." Ben fussed.

"What is the big deal? I'm not going anywhere. He just saw me get in the car with you as you ordered me to come. He knows I belong to you. I know I belong to you. You know I belong to you. Would I be here if I didn't?"

"Would you?" Ben asked genuinely wanting to know and something told him that she wouldn't. If she didn't have to be right now, she would be gone. If he didn't buy her, they would already be back in Seattle and she would be back to her normal life.

"Of course not. I would still be back in that shit hole with that evil ass man." She responded but she knew that was not what he was really asking her. He wanted to know that if right now she had the opportunity to leave him and all this behind would she? And right now she didn't know the answer herself.

Ben huffed and looked over at her before looking back at the road. "First of all, it's extremely unprofessional of him to do that. He is your boss. He has no business asking you out anywhere."

"I know that. I didn't want to lose my job."

"So you would go on a date with that man just to keep it?" He questioned.

Miranda rolled her eyes. "I told him I couldn't and he never asked me again."

"Until today?"

"No, he didn't ask me today either. He literally said I have beauty and brains."
