Toph and Tai entered the training area in the palace, the same area where the late King Bumi had fought his friend, Aang. Tai, who wanted to crack the tension, let out a loud "Yelp!" and launched himself into a series of earthbending moves, sending rocks and dust flying. Toph, who mastered the neutral Jing, simply raised her hands and formed a shield of earth, deflecting Tai's attacks with ease.
"You're good, Toph," Tai said with a smirk. Toph growled in mock frustration. "Oh, yeah? I'm the greatest earthbender to exist!" she laughed out loud. "Well, let's see about that" Tai answered. With a renewed burst of energy, Tai sent a huge rock toward her, and Toph in return pushed out the rock and unleashed a powerful earthbending attack, sending a shockwave through the training area. Tai was caught off guard and stumbled backward, but he quickly regained his footing and countered with an earthbending move of his own.
The two earthbenders clashed, their movements a blur of earth and stone. The training area became a whirlwind of dust and debris, and the sound of their attacks echoed through the palace. Suddenly, Toph caught Tai off guard again with a surprise attack. She sent a wave of earth surging toward him, and he barely had time to react before he was knocked to the ground. Toph stood over him, triumphant. "I told you I am the greatest" she said with a grin. Tai chuckled and shook his head. "You're not bad, Toph" he admitted. Toph rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I'm the best" she said. The two earthbenders laughed, and for a moment, they forgot about their problems. They were just two friends, enjoying a good sparring match.
As they sat on the bench in the training area, Toph couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. She had fun battling with him. Tai, for his part, was also feeling good about the match. He had been impressed by Toph, and more importantly, he was able to distract himself and for once not to think of Katara.

Meanwhile, in Aang and Katara's room, they had just woken up from their afternoon nap. As they stretched and yawned, a comfortable silence settled between them. Aang's gaze fell upon Katara, and a smile spread across his face. He leaned in and gently kissed her forehead.
Katara returned the smile, her heart fluttering. She loved these quiet moments with Aang, just the two of them, lost in their own little world, she missed it.
"I love you" Aang whispered against her skin. Katara's heart swelled with love "I love you too, I missed you" she replied, her voice filled with sincerity. They lay in each other's arms for a while longer, enjoying the warmth of their embrace. Then, as if on cue, Sokka's voice burst through the door, shattering their peaceful moment. "Aang! Katara!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency. "You need to come with me now!" he said. Aang and Katara exchanged a confused look. They got out of bed and followed Sokka out of the room.
As they walked through the palace, Sokka filled them in on what had happened. General Takumi and the other generals had chosen a new king for Omashu, and they wanted to consult with the Avatar before they announced it.
"Aang, Katara" General Takumi said, his face etched with a seriousness that sent shivers down Katara's spine, "I am pleased to see you. We have a matter of great importance to discuss". Aang nodded, his brow furrowed in concern. "So I've heard" he said. General Takumi cleared his throat and continued, his voice heavy. "The generals and I have chosen a new king to lead Omashu to be the heir of King Bumi". A wave of relief washed over Aang and Katara. They had been worried about the state of Omashu and knowing that a new leader had been chosen brought them a sense of comfort.
"That's wonderful news" Aang said, a genuine smile gracing his lips. "Who is the new king?" he asked. General Takumi remained silent for a moment, his gaze flitting between Aang and Katara. The air in the room grew thick with anticipation. Finally, he spoke, his voice barely a whisper. "The new king we want to crown" he announced, his words hanging heavy in the air, "is Tai". A gasp escaped Katara's lips, her eyes widening in shock. Aang's smile faltered, replaced by a mixture of confusion and disbelief. Tai? The same Tai Katara dated?! Is he related to his late friend who recently passed away?
