Detective Choi Soobin was on his way to the Seoul international airport in his work-issued Chevrolet while talking on his two-way radio. He looked busy and urgent but determined at the same time. Because of his young age, he looked more wiser and energetic. Maybe it's cuz he was about to handle his first ever serious crime case since exiting the profiler school.
"What's the situation?" he asked the same question for the third time and the man on the other line answered with the same enthusiasm.
"Parking-lot is currently on lock down sir. And the departures are delayed for another hour."
"Don't let anyone touch anything near the corpse till I get there."
"The airport security just positioned around the Lexes sir."
"Good."
He placed the radio on the holder and stepped a little hard on the accelerator. He need to get there before the chief or he'd miss important things.
It was Soobin's lucky day. He pulled into the long-term parking lot just before 9 a.m. The gatekeeper came to greet him and his crew of three people.
"Let's go see the corpse first." Soobin said, motioning another young man beside him. He understood the que and scurried away to fetch the crime-scene latent fingerprint testing kit from the trunk. Then the five of them started to hurry through the rows of vehicles towards the relevant car.
Two minutes later the olive-green Lexes came into view, abandoned in a corner. Two airport security guys were standing two meters short of it, wearing surgical masks. They came to meet up with the intruders halfway through. Soobin shook hands with them.
"We'll take the statements later. First, I need to check the corpse and swipe out the buried evidence. What exact time is it when you find the corpse exactly, again?"
"About 8.43." the gatekeeper answered. "The lady who parked next to this vehicle noticed an unnatural swarm of flies around the trunk and immediately reported it to me. It was exactly 8.43 when I finally opened the trunk using an iron rod. The poor woman fainted right after she saw the bag containing the body. She was taken away by the medical crew."
"Bag?"
"Yes, a sleeping bag sir. Whoever killed him, must've stuffed the body into it afterwards."
Soobin nodded to himself and took the surgical kit, mask, latex boots and gloves from one of his crew guys. "The medical crew didn't mess with the corpse, right?"
"Yes, I made absolutely sure of that sir. Nobody touched anything. The first thing I did was call the security and then you guys."
"Good." Soobin said for the second time. The crew guys helped him to get into the suit. Then they wore the same, preparing for a very bad sight.
"Who closed back the trunk door?" Soobin questioned walking towards the car.
"Me." the gatekeeper answered, a little guiltily. "I guess, that's not a problem?"
"It's fine." Soobin signalled something to a guy and he hastily wrote it down the scrapbook.
Jung-Jaewon's fingerprints on the trunk lid.
Soobin walked over to the trunk door and lifted it open in a one swift movement. A huge colony of flies blew out of it, revealing a huge smelly black lump on the floor. It had old dried blood stains on it.
The guy with the scrapbook scribbled down the time and the importance of it.
"Yeonjun." Soobin ordered and the crime technician quickly opened his box and came out with brushes, powders and a bunch of other stuff. He leaned inside the trunk and started taking fingerprints off the sleeping bag.
