Two weeks later...
Stone stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes slowly, letting them adapt to the clarity that was coming from the window. He blinked a few times before being able to keep them open. Then, he stretched and turned around to find Iris sleeping peacefully. The sheet was only pulled up until her waist, one leg was uncovered. She had her hair covering part of her face and he gently pulled it away and stayed there looking at her for a couple of minutes. She looked perfect and so serene. The two weeks alone started flooding his mind as the ocean added a peaceful momentum to them. They had been on absolute honeymoon since everybody left. He knew the purpose was another. Iris was not ready to come back to Seattle or their house, nevertheless, time alone was doing wonders for them. Their bond grew immensely. They had important conversations. Conversations they hadn't had until then. They shared fears and wishes. They discussed what they would like to change in their marriage, and what they hoped from one another. Staying alone had one initial goal, but it turned out to be much more than that. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice that she had opened her eyes too and when he finally did, he smiled at her.
"You're awake?." He smiled and then leaned over to kiss her lips.
"After all these years and you don't know it's awful to watch people sleep?" She said still with a sleepy voice too. Iris's eyes were also blinking trying to adapt to the clarity in the bedroom. "It's so sunny..." She covered her eyes with her hand for a few seconds as the clarity stung her blue eyes. "Or is this because of the blunt we smoked last night." Stone giggled.
"I didn't think we'd be using the stuff Ed left, but it's been fun."
"Why were you so compenetrated looking at me?" Iris finally opened her eyes and looked in his still puffy ones.
"I was just thinking..." He told her, playing with a strand of her hair.
"About what?" She asked him while his fingers then caressed her cheek.
His eyes still so swollen from sleeping. His hair all messed up, a few marks of the pillow on his left side. Iris raised her head and kissed his lips softly, not even giving him time to kiss her back.
"About how necessary it was for us to have this time here, alone." He explained. "I know it's hard on the kids, but we needed this, and it wasn't that clear in my head as it is now."
They had been talking. They had been having fun. Maybe they had been doing stuff they shouldn't do as getting high, but they were bonding again and so strongly. Even sex was just getting better and better as they didn't have to worry with kids bursting in the bedroom or hearing them. Sex was not confined to the bedroom either. They had done in every corner of the house.
"And today we have another session with Pierre." He nodded at her observation. Are you nervous?"
"No." He shook his head. "Are you?"
"A little..." Iris confessed.
"Why?" Stone kissed her lips.
"I don't know... maybe because I always get a little nervous thinking about what he is going to ask." She smiled softly at him.
"I don't think he's going to ask anything that we haven't discussed yet." Stone looked in her eyes. "We've been doing so much talking."
"I guess, yes..." Iris agreed.
"Wanna shower with me?" Stone proposed, pulling the sheet away.
He was naked and she smiled at the view. They had made love again before falling asleep and none bothered to put some clothes on. The freedom of being alone.
"Why are you smiling?" He asked standing right at the edge of the bed with a smirk on his lips that made her giggle. Stone ripped the sheet away, revealing her naked body. "You are butt naked too." He winked.
