"Al-Alastor, what did she mean by that?" I asked shakily with flushed cheeks.
"Darling, it's—"
"No. What did our broadcast do?"
I'd never seen Alastor's smile so small until now. My eyes flickered towards Vaggie, whose angry expression had turned to pity. It was all intended for me. "What did you do?" I cried out, slamming my hand down on the table.
"I did it for us. An ultimate sacrifice for our love," he grinned. Then he snatched up my wrist, pulling me into him. I tried to push away, but he kept his grip firm.
"Charlie's father will find out about this, even if he hasn't already. He's going to kill you," Vaggie spoke up with a hollow expression. It felt like a hammer was slammed into my chest. With a scowl I looked up at Alastor.
"How could you? I thought we were soulmates."
"We were darling. That is why I did it. Most likely you would have died from your sickness in five years like last time. This way it's painless and I get to have you," he shrugged, as if my life wasn't over. "Your life is just beginning," he whispered only to me. My death was new information. I figured from clues that I died younger than the average person, but five years. That is all I had left. Well not anymore. I would never see my gentle Alivia again. She didn't belong here.
"You are disgusting, Alastor," Vaggie hissed, shaking her head.
"I never claimed to be a good person. We are in hell after all. It wouldn't have ended well with her still alive. The radio demon doesn't need to explain this to you." His voice held a certain warning. It ran a chill down my spine.
With a cold shove, I broke away from him and rushed towards Vaggie. "Whether I am stuck here or not, it won't be with you," I promised him. We were so close to love.
"You don't mean that dear. You are just angry," he tried to reason, taking a step closer to us. We both took a step back ourselves, understanding he was maybe the most powerful person in this hotel.
"I am not angry. I am heartbroken," I shot back quickly. Slowly with Vaggie's hand on my arm, we backed away from him.
"This won't go how you think. We used dark magic to bind us, Danika," he laughed darling. Rarely did he say my name. It was sharp and possessive.
"Even if I stay here, I won't be your lover," I answered with a confidence I didn't know I had. It was easier standing up to him when I knew he wouldn't kill me. Although Vaggie was another thing. Alastor's shadow was growing larger and darker by the second. The situation needed under control.
"You know we aren't supposed to use violence in the hotel. Charlie's rules," Vaggie warned, her grasp tightened on my forearm.
"That's fine. I have waited a very long time for you. I'm fine with holding off till you step out of the hotel." His disregard for my feelings stung as much as the betrayal. I couldn't see it till now. He was controlling and toxic. I was so stupid for falling for his charms. Everyone was right. I'm just a stupid little girl.
"My father's here," a stiff voice said from behind us. Everyone's heads snapped to see an even paler Charlie.
"I'm sorry, princess. I didn't know," I spoke, but my voice was cracked and weak.
"It's alright, but you need to see him," Charlie smiled weakly.

Lucifer was much more whimsical than I thought he would be. He and Charlie shared many features. It was odd. Alastor looked more like the king of hell than he did. I guess he was an angel. Maybe I could appeal to that side of him.
"Danika Meyer. Do you know what that name means?" he asked, but he wasn't looking at me. His irritated gaze was solely for Alastor.
"Morningstar," I answered instead, a deadliness to my voice. I should be scared and frightened, but they were going to kill me anyways.
"Yes. You must feel special sharing a name with me," Lucifer tried to joke lightly. He seemed to hold no malice towards me. Actually him and Charlie seemed to be the kindest.
I only nodded humbly. I knew surviving meant respecting this man. Maybe if I appealed to his angelic nature he would let me go.
"Angels aren't as sweet like you, dear. They can be very cruel," Alastor whispered to me and placed a hand on my thigh. With everyone watching, I picked it up and dropped his hand back on his lap.
"Well clearly you didn't want this to happen. I imagine this demon didn't tell you the consequences of bringing you down here," Lucifer sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"I'm the radio demon," Alastor said with a cheery tone, but I knew it was warning. I rolled my eyes, which earned a lethal click of Alastor's tongue. "I'll get you for that later."
"I already know what happens when I'm punished," I spat, not caring who hears.
"Alright then," Lucifer groaned. "You cannot go back to earth knowing about hell. It leaves an imbalance. Humans aren't supposed to know what comes after death,"
"I won't tell anyone," I promised, my eyes starting to glaze over. "Please, sir." Alastor's scoffs and maniacal expression just made him look petty. I was starting to realize me begging another demon made him jealous.
"Do it for me, dad," Charlie spoke up. I nodded shakily up at Lucifer, flickering my eyes towards his only daughter.
"I could erase her memory, but it would take away all of them. You would never remember," he offered, but he made it sound like it was not a favor. I wasn't sure I could go through that again. I know what it's like for magic to mess with your mind and life.
"She is reincarnated. I used a spell that would bind us forever," Alastor announced with unsettling calmness to him.
Lucifer's eyes widened and turned into an irritated one. "If it wasn't counterproductive to curse my own name I would. You weren't supposed to be up there anyways." He continued his pacing and shot humorous but questionable glances towards Charlie.
"They were humans when they did it, living unaware of the rules of hell," Charlie reasoned. She leaned forward, resting her elbow on her knees. Her chin rested on her fists.
"It doesn't matter. You eventually found your way here for a reason," the devil said and then sent a glare towards the radio demon. It only made Alastor seem more enthused. "Charlie let's get to that tour of your hotel." He nodded gravely towards his daughter. She gave me an apologetic look and then stood up from the couch. As they started to leave the room, Alastor stood up too.
"I must follow along, sweetheart. We will talk later," he spoke with a soft voice that also had too much sternness for my liking.
"We will not. I'm going to sleep in another room," I replied with iciness. We hadn't slept all night, and it was now late morning. A splitting headache started to form.
"Danika you heard Lucifer. You are supposed to be here," he sighed with an almost sad smile.
"Even if we are handcuffed together for all eternity, I'll always despise you."
