After Vaggie requested that Alastor do something with the egg-people humanely, he told me he had to leave me with the other residents. With lots of protests, I walked down the stairs to the odd lobby. Everything was red, and more of those creepy eyes were on the walls. Everyone was gathered in front of a platform. I couldn't believe I was here doing this. I also had no sleep. Alastor insisted I adjust to the time change there.
"Good afternoon folks, I have a special guest who will be accompanying your activities while I'm away," Alastor announced with a performative tone. "This is Danika. She is very important to me. If any of you mention her presence to another soul, take her out of the hotel, or hurt her... Well... ya know what happens on my broadcasts," he warned them while his voice turned into static and his pupils took the shape of radio dials. My eyes widened at his terrifying presence. His arm tightened around me.
"Sheesh! We won't harm your girlfriend, toots!" a fuzzy spider-like demon piped up anxiously. He had multiple arms and a suit on. I guess this could have been weirder.
"I'm overjoyed to hear," Alastor hummed and then turned toward me. He lowered himself to my height and whispered in my ear seductively, "We'll finish our... conversation later, darling." Immediately I could feel my panties getting soaked. I shouldn't have let him have this effect on me.
With a wink and clink of his microphone against the carpet, he vanished into his smoke. Alastor told me on the way to the lobby that he had some obligations of his own and our problem to attend to on his outing. It made me a little sick thinking about someone dying for my benefit, but what other option is there? They'll kill me if Alastor doesn't help Dolios with his debt. And he can't. Alastor just lies and manipulates.
One of the more human-looking demons rushed up to me with a genuine smile. "Hi! My name is Charlie! I'm soo happy to finally meet you. Alastor finally told us a few days ago about why he has been gone so much. How has he been treating you? Oh! Wait, what do you think of the hotel?"
I didn't expect such a bubbly character in hell. She was beautiful with thick blonde hair tied down her back and rosy-red cheeks. Her red suit fit well with the hotel's aesthetic.
"Sorry about my girlfriend. She gets excited about new visitors," Vaggie apologized and put her arm around Charlie.
"It's quite alright. I appreciate the friendliness. This place is really... amazing. It has cozy vibes," I complimented awkwardly.
"Why thank you! I'm sure Alastor told you this, but Vaggie and I own this humble abode. We are really passionate about our project here..." Charlie's voice dwindled off at the confused expression on my face. Her faced turned flat, "Of course he didn't mention anything about what we do here."
She proceeded to explain that this wasn't just a hotel, but a place for sinners to have a shot at redemption. They want to get to heaven. I stopped her when she said exterminations though.
"Wait, angels, like biblical angels from heaven, come down and kill people?" I gasped in horror. Alastor should have prepared me more. He didn't tell me that all the stories aren't true. That every church service was a lie.
"You don't need to worry, toots. We have months before they come back. Mr. Creepy Face shouldn't have left you clueless," the spider-demon shrugged as if my whole perspective hasn't been blown to pieces.
I chuckled at his nickname for Alastor. "That's a good one. Please tell me you've said that to his face."
"Yes I have. I'll do it in front of you some time for fun. The name's Angel Dust by the way. I'm a famous actor," he proudly introduced himself.
"He's a porn star to be exact," a cat with wings grumbled from the back of the group.
"Hey, it's still acting," I pointed out sheepishly and glanced at Angel Dust.
"I think I'm starting to understand why Alastor likes ya," he grinned back at me. At least I was getting along with everybody.
Charlie announced we were doing trust exercises with extreme enthusiasm. Vaggie instructed with a military-like style that we will share something vulnerable and then do a trust fall. Charlie unexpectedly went first. After expressing her pure love for everyone, the girl turned around and fell back into the guests as a trust-fall. Only Vaggie and I ran to catch her. I guess it makes sense. I was in a room full of demons. They weren't as scary as Alastor though.
Angel, a literal snake, and a crazy girl named Nifty, who only had giant eye, went after her. Neither of their contributions were that serious. I could see the disappointment in Charlie's eyes. Apparently the egg-people are actually the snake's, Sir Pentious', minions.
"Danika, why don't you go?" Charlie requested cheerfully.
"Um, okay," I agreed awkwardly and got onto the stage. There were some friendly faces looking back at me, so maybe it wouldn't be terrible. I saw Charlie staring with hopeful eyes. She looked like she was begging for an honest share.
"I guess... I'm just really scared about the future. I don't really understand this place, and Alastor hasn't explained too much to nothing. I don't really even know Alastor. I don't know what I feel" I sighed and glanced away from the group for a second. When I looked back, Charlie had a sympathetic look on her face. Maybe Alastor was right trusting me here with them. I turned around and fell back towards the demons. My heart sank at the lack of hands catching me.
Relief flooded my body as I was actually caught. Looking around, both Vaggie and Charlie were holding me up. Vaggie didn't share the same kind eyes as her girlfriend. She looked suspicious of me.
I jumped out of their arms and frowned at Charlie's still disappointed face. Angel suggested a place they could all bond together. "We wish you could come with, but fuck crossing the strawberry demon..." Angel shivered at the thought.
"That's okay," I responded lightly, "your nicknames are brightening up my day."
I laid around Alastor's room all day waiting for him. At some point, I started going through his stuff. It's his fault he left me here. It's not the other resident's responsibility to babysit either. In his closet, I found a box of vinyls that looked old as hell. Flipping through them, I gasped at the one labeled 'Alastor's Evening Radio Show. Special Guest Danika Meyer. September 15th, 1925.'
Every time I saw proof that backed Alastor's claims, it still shocked me. He didn't even show this to me. Without hesitation I place the vinyl onto the turntable on his nightstand. After struggling for a moment, I figured out how to work the vintage technology. My ears perk at the sound of Alastor's human voice. He sounded much more kind, like a gentleman.
"Hello everybody! I appreciate ya tuning into my show tonight. I'm very excited to bring on a very talented singer, Danika Meyer. Introduce yourself to the folks, my dear." My heart hurt hearing how excited he was. Alastor's tone seemed young and hopeful.
"Good evening friends, I'm so honored to be on your show, Alastor." It sounded exactly like me. I could hear the nervousness in my voice.
When I got back to his room, I changed back into the comfortable big tee and undies. Laying on my stomach in the demon's bed, I wondered what Alastor would do if he caught me with my ass out and snooping through his stuff.
"Why don't you give the listeners a blurb of your background."
"Well, I just moved here a few months back from northern West Virginia and-"
"We have a yankee in our territory guys!"
"I'm not from that far up north," I heard myself giggling. I matched Alastor's enjoyment just as much. Knowing I sang in my past life made me smile. We continued talking about my music career. I could tell from the conversation, that him and I were clearly romantic. My voice sounded flustered, and his was flirtatious. We truly were happy together...
At some point in the show, Alastor switched to the latest news with my embarrassing commentary. My specialty was singing, never talking. I furrowed my brows as he mentioned the police were on the look out for a serial killer. I didn't remember a murderer from the 1920's. I'd have to look it up when I got home.
A hand clamped around my mouth, but I still tried to scream. "Well, well, sweetheart. What am I going to do with you now?" Alastor is back, and desire was dripping from his voice.
