Ahkmenrah pov
Her bravery really sparkled in her eyes. I gave a sigh and let go of her arm. Her face was a little bit shocked but then turned into relief.
"You are sort of my queen y/n," I said.
"What do you mean," she asked again.
"I will treat you as a queen. Only if you want that. You don't want to get married and I understand. It's your choice."
"I still don't understand what you mean ahk."
She threw her hands up in frustration and turned away from me. I don't know what to do but I put my hand on her shoulder. I guess to show I am here for her. It sounded like she was sniffling.
"You are my friend y/n and I would protect you with my life. I have done that before for Larry and his son Nick many times. You are more than that to me though."
I took a pause to see if she would have some reaction but she was quiet.
I continued, "I know you might not feel the same but you make me feel even more alive. That's why I said you were my queen in a way. Not because of a tablet but because that's how I feel about you y/n. I want you as my queen. The in a way part is if you want me."
I took another pause but I continued to talk.
"I know it's a lot to take in and you probably don't want to hear.."
She interrupted me by hugging me tightly. Her arms wrapped around my bare back under the cape. She hid her face in the crook of my neck but I could feel her tears falling onto my collar made of gold and beads. I finally wrapped my arms around her. She felt small in my arms but I didn't want to let go.
When Larry walked in he was surprised when he first saw us but quickly understood when she and I let go. She turned her head slightly showing puffy red eyes. Larry pointed to his watch to signal it's time for sunrise. I gently said goodbye and left her there. I don't know if that's what I should have done but she understands that I had to.
Y/n pov
Ahk went back to rest and I went home to get ready to meet with Dad. I took a little nap then after that got dressed in a light blue button up shirt some black leggings and white shoes. I put on some mascara and lip gloss to look like I didn't spend the whole night in a museum and cried.
I walked into the kitchen to see mom with a sad face. She was still in her PJs in hadn't brushed her hair yet.
"Y/n it's just going to be you and Dad for lunch."
I assumed that it would be just him and me but to comfort her I said, "You want any food from there I think I could bring some leftovers."
"No need I'll just have a sandwich. Go and enjoy your time with your father."
"Ok if that's what you want."
I left but soon after I heard a door slamming inside. She will be upset for a while. I walked down the flight of stairs to see my dad. He was to was wearing a blue button up shirt. Except he had a tan jacket gray pants and brown shoes. He still wore those black glasses that looked really weird on him.
"Little loon your here," he said excitedly and hugged me.
I gently hugged back and said, "Yes I'm visiting from Aunt Becky's."
"How is my little sister doing in Texas? I heard she got divorced."
I looked at him in surprise and was kind of mad at the thought of that.
"Your very wrong dad. Uncle Jim and her are still happily married."
"Well I never thought it would last but it's good that I was wrong."
He hailed the taxi and opened the door for me.
"You go in first my little loon."
I went in but the driver looked really upset. It was a woman maybe around her mid-thirties with tattoos on her arm. When my dad got in and closed the door the driver looked at him really menacingly.
"Why did you call this girl a loon is she crazy or something," she asked.
Dad looked at her very happy that she asked.
"You know loon is a word for crazy people but there is also a bird called a loon and that's my girls favorite animal."
Yeah when I was six I thought. The driver still looked at us weird but once Dad told her where to go she took us there very gladly.
When we got there dad just lead the way and I followed. We sat down at a little table for two and ordered. In the background a song was playing.
The evil it spread like a fever ahead
It was night when you died, my firefly
What could I have said to raise you from the dead?Oh could I be the sky on the Fourth of July?
Well you do enough talk
My little hawk, why do you cry?
Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn?
Or the Fourth of July?
We're all gonna dieSitting at the bed with the halo at your head
Was it all a disguise, like Junior High
Where everything was fiction, future, and predictionNow, where am I?
My fading supplyDid you get enough love, my little dove
Why do you cry?And I'm sorry I left, but it was for the best
Though it never felt right
My little VersaillesThe hospital asked should the body be cast
Before I say goodbye, my star in the skySuch a funny thought to wrap you up in cloth
Do you find it all right, my dragonfly?Shall we look at the moon, my little loon
Why do you cry?
Make the most of your life, while it is rife
While it is lightWell you do enough talk
My little hawk, why do you cry?
Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn?
Or the Fourth of July?
We're all gonna die
We're all gonna dieIt keep repeating that one sentence making me spiral into all my memories of pain and a little bit of ahk.
"What do you want from me dad," I said crying.
"I know I should have told them to play this song but we need to face the past and the future," he said.
He brought out a book. My book. My favorite book he would read to me every night. I took it from his hands. It's title was little loon and papa. I opened it to see it still had my little signature in it with my little brothers and sisters hand prints under it.
"You know how I love to use symbolism my little loon. When I founded this song I knew it would trigger your memory."
"Leave jonah and Iolani out of this."
"Then should we talk about ahk or should I say ahkmenrah forth king of the fourth king ruler of the land of his fathers."
I stood up in shock shaking the table a little bit once I did. How does he know ahk. I've never seen him at the museum.
"Listen to me y/n we need to take this a step at a time."
"A step at a time." I yelled grabbing my phone, "How do you know ahk?"
"I know a lot more than you know little loon."
With his answer I ran out of the restaurant.
