Chapter 62: Masquerade ball.

Rose POV.
It was hard not to blurt everything out at Dimitri, but knowing him he would push me away and not believe if I told him. He needed to analyse and figure this out on his own terms or he would not be convinced. Liss made arraignments for Dimitri to stay somewhere. I rather have him here but that probably would go well. I went to bed and just laid there, thinking of him and Tasha. Could I get over the fact that they were together. It somehow felt like he cheated on me. He could withstand the lust charm why not this or did he secretly wanted it. Then there was Jesse, would he ever want to touch me again after that. I still felt dirty that when I showered I scrubbed so hard that my skin turned pink. It was like I couldn't get his stench of me. The next morning after Nikita was fed a stuck my head in Lissa's room. "Can I come in?" Liss was on the couch in her pj's with some cereal. She patted the couch as she chews a mouth full of cereal. Me and Nikita sat down beside her. She swallowed. "Good morning little and big Hathaway." As she stroked Nikita's cheek. I smirked. "How are you Rose?" I shrugged. "Worried, confused, tired, sad, angry, terrified Take a pick." She looked sympathetic. "We should get out. There's a masquerade ball at the end of the week. Letts make a night of it." I thought about this. "That's a good idea I could use some fun."

I when back into my routine and occasionally saw Dimitri stalking the grounds. I told myself I wasn't going to approached him. I didn't want to repeat the time he renounced his love for me. Then I kept pushing him over and over again to see me I actually lost him for a time. I couldn't go through that again. I kept my hart well-guarded to protect myself and my Nikita.

At the end of the week we were getting ready for the masquerade ball Liss wanted to repeat the equinox dance so we bought dresses very similar to the dresses we wore then. All my bruising and scars had disappeared. We were ready and the boys knocked at the door. Eddie was going to escort me just as a friend. Christian and he looked very handsome. "Cleaned up nice Sparky." He kissed Liss her hand. "Anything for my Princess." I smiled even thought she was queen he never stopped calling her his Princess.

I kissed my sleeping Nikita goodbye and hugged Mia for looking after her for the night. She still slept in the guestroom since I didn't want to be alone but Mia could do her own thing when I was home. We put on our masks and headed out locking our arms with our escorts. Christian whispered something in Liss her ear that made her devilish smile. I paid no attention to it he could be talking dirty to her. We entered the grand ball room witch looked like a fairy-tale with all the Royal extra's like the orchestra playing classic sounding music. Thanks to Liss her influence also knew a lot of resent music like the 'piano guys' do. I was reminded of the time I sang in the dinner as a Adele song started to play. After we had some drinks and mingled a little I saw most did not recognise Lissa as the Queen. She could have fun without being the centre of attention. I knew she craved this and took fully advantage of this.
Eddie tapped my shoulder. "How about a dance?" I nodded as he led me to the dance floor. Dancing wasn't that different from fighting one just need to adapt the footwork to prevent from stepping on each other's toes. It was nice but we couldn't quite get a fluid motion going so we left it at one dance.
The singer of the orchestra started to address the guest and announced that there was a guest singer in the house. I looked around to see who it was until there was a enormous spotlight shining down on me. I looked over at Liss in shock. She shuffled closer. "Guardian O'Hara told me and I wanted to hear it for myself." I just stood there frozen with all eyes one me. The dinner was one thing but this much people was insane. Christian and Eddie hooked my arms and pulled me forward. "I will get you for this Liss."I hissed over my shoulder. I looked over at the conductor. "do you know 'A thousand Years, by Christina Perri'." He nodded and I took centre stage. I closed my eyes imagining I was alone in my bathroom. Here we go Rose....

After I collected myself on the side of the stage I headed back to Liss. Dimitri was still standing there looking at me. I shifted closer to Liss. "I'm going to kill you for that." I said in her ear. She whispered back. "is that a death threat against your Queen." And we giggled. "You're very good." Eddie complimented.
