It was dark, but Catnap was still awake and working on his computer, he got na air conditioner so the computer wouldn’t get too hot. He was browsing a website, it was something strange for him and at first he really found it unusual for his search history.

The website was for adoption, for some reason he was looking at the catalog of children, with names, ages, preferences, genders and hobbies. Catnap wasn’t looking for something specific, but rather something that caught his attention, and scrolling a lot he seemed to find something…

— Hum… Hoppy Hopscotch, sold by her father at the age of three to buy drugs, rescued by the police department and given to the “Smile” orphanage, is fourteen, a girl, a rabbit who is a fan of fighting, likes sweets and is super energetic… interesting.

Scrolling a little further down he sees something that really catches his attention, he remembers a few days ago when he had finished some work, stopping with his car in front of na orphanage, he looked at the place and focused a lot on a child who was apparently running. It was na orange puppy with darker spots, thin and with a lot of fur on its tail and ears.

— Hum… that boy, he’s here too, let’s see; name? Dogday, turns eleven today, likes calm music, is lonely because he was bullied, his father is unknown and his mother died during childbirth... he has no food preferences.

The feline stared at the boy’s face for a long time, but then something appeared on the screen… in this case, the adoption registration form.

Far away, at the Smile orphanage, Dogday for some reason woke up a little late, but he woke up surrounded by people. For a moment he didn’t understand anything, but he saw the caregiver he liked, Hoppy and her friends, yes even Picky, besides the four of them, many other girls since the boys didn’t like him very much.

It didn’t take long for a silent celebration to take place, not much noise was made as Dogday is sensitive, but it was still very lively. They made a second cake, bigger but this one was for Picky, the birthday boy’s was round, and the flavor was chosen by the girls around, as the boy didn’t care about the flavor of the cake.

— Eleven years in the bodywork, right boy! You took more beatings than me and you’re still cute! — said Hoppy, sitting next to Dogday, he didn’t get out of bed during the entire small celebration.

— Hum? Cute? Hehe, thanks Hoppy… you’re also cute— he replied shyly.

— Cute, me? Haha! Clean your eyes boy, you’re not blind!

— Yes, and no, I don’t need to clean my eyes, I can see very well! — He said smiling and then eating a small piece of cake on a plate.

Hoppy blushed, she smiled as she saw Crafty approach from the other side of the bed.

— Hey Dogday, I made this drawing for you! I didn’t know how to design based on your tastes, so I did this… — she delivered the drawing on a small sheet of paper.

It was Dogday sitting on a bridge very close to a river, next to them Hoppy who seemed to be fighting with a fish and Crafty herself who was fishing.

— Wow… — said a little taken aback — This is… my goodness, very beautiful!

— Yeah, that’s what a lot of people say, hehe.

Dogday thanks him, and for the first time he hugs someone with a pure feeling of joy, first it was Crafty and then Hoppy, and when he hugged the bunny, a tear ran from his eyes. Jumping out of bed he ran straight to Picky, hugging her too and receiving a little caress on her head from the pig, letting go of her the boy now ran to the caregiver who looked after him the most, she was sitting.

— I have to thank you too… you taught me a lot of cool things and took care of me!
— he spoke smiling openly and looking at the woman, his tail wagged quickly.

— Hehe, yes yes, I did all this for you little one, and well, we may not allow gifts… but I think I have one for you — she picked up the boy and placed him on her lap.

— A gift for me? What is it? — he spoke smiling and very cheerful, and soon he received a letter, he opened it a little confused and read — I… what? — His tail has stopped wagging, and his look changes to one of disbelief — I was adopted.

— No way!! — Hoppy jumped out of bed, she could hear what he said — were you adopted!?

— Uh… yes? I was? — He said, smiling a little awkwardly.

The birthday just got better, everyone’s joy was now more than genuine, and
Dogday was clearly stunned, he never thought that someone would adopt him and that he would get out of there, even if it was forever… he looked at the paper, a little about who adopted him: a single man, twenty-two years old, a cat and his name was Catnap.

Outside, that Hellcat entered through the building’s gates, soon a space was found and the vehicle was parked, the purple feline came out of the car wearing a white shirt, black shorts and a blue blouse tied around his waist. The children playing on a nearby lawn were delighted with who arrived, and of course, the boys kept na eye on the car.

One of the caregivers approached him, the conversation was quick and soon the two entered the building, being followed by curious children. It was close to lunch so most of the “little creatures” were in the cafeteria, and Catnap was taken there to get something to drink, and also to wait for the one he adopted.

“So many children... I can see their magical density from afar, and there are each one stronger than the other, others more interactive, some older and apparently with dreams in mind, and I was right to choose a tem-year-old depressive... will it be that my choices really are horrible?” he thought, sitting at a table where only employees and visitors can sit.

He drank a natural milk-based juice, meanwhile he looked at the children who were waiting for something to eat, other than that the cat was a little uncomfortable with the curious little ones who were looking at him.

— Do you want something? — asked Catnap, placing his face on the table.

— Who are you? — asked one of the children.

— The new father of a child… — the feline looked tired.

— And who is it? We know practically everyone here! — said another child.

— Uhh… no, I won’t say who it is, it’s not worth it.

The children were a little sad and disappointed, so they walked away when one of the caregivers approached. She guided Catnap to another place, Dogaday had gotten ready and was waiting for him in his room.

Dogday’s room was tidy and bright, his was one of the best because it had a window, the room was cool and ventilated, and the boy was sitting on his bed while looking at some photos, they were of him with his friends and the girls from that day in the women’s bathroom.

He sighed as he scrolled through the photos he kept in a backbag, one he used to carry his school supplies. Dogday was dressed, with a very light blue shirt, and dark green shorts, when the door opened he stood up with his tail wagging and a sparkle in his eyes.

— Dogday? — the woman appeared at the door — your first father, arrived — she opened the door wider and the feline appeared, his tired look was visible.

— Erm… hello? Dad? — he said very nervously, he was shaking because of this and his tail was still wagging between his legs.

Catnap entered the room while scratching his head, he took a better look at the child he adopted, from top to bottom, side to side;

— Hum… you really are cute, cuter than in the photos — he crouched — why don’t you come here and hug me?  It seems like a good first step — he opened his arms.

The little dog happily wags his tail and walks a little apprehensively towards the purple cat, hugging him and being hugged back.

“My… new Dad, hopefully forever, he hugs in a weird way and… is he purring? Haaa~ he liked me!”

The hug lasted a long time, until the purple feline asked if they could go now. Dogday says that he needed to say goodbye to his main friends, and his special caregiver, Catnap, said that there was no problem and that in addition he could get to know them better.

The three girls were outside, talking a little, Dogday approached them along with his new father, the interaction with those three girls made the cat feel lighter, making him smile despite being tired.

Hoppy was the most energetic and the one who asked the most questions, whether he fought, whether he had money, whether he worked… it was every question that brought a smile from Catnap. Crafty didn’t do much, just sit quietly with a pencil and a notepad while repeating; “handsome man”.

The farewell was warm, full of smiles and laughter, and one of the things said by the female group that caught Catnap off guard was a greeting from the bunny:“Take good care of him”.

After all this farewell, father and son left, the children around were shocked by who was adopted, and by the car of whoever adopted him. The Hellcat slowly left, Hoppy went to the bars so he could look at one of his friends one last time.

“I don’t know if it will be easy, it’s someone who will take care of me until the end of everything… I know how life is and there are chances of him abandoning me, I hope that doesn’t happen, I hope that this lasts forever” thought Dogday as he looked out the car window.
