Kim Mingyu stared blankly at his phone, finding nothing of interest. He sighed for the hundredth time today. It had been ten hours since he sent his messages to that certain person, but still, no reply had appeared.
Am I that unforgiven?
He really hates me that much, huh?
After tossing his phone onto his bed, Mingyu threw another small, sharp projectile at the dartboard on his room wall with a bored expression. He grimaced as it hit the outer line again. He really sucked at that game.
As Mingyu walked toward the dartboard to retrieve the projectiles he'd thrown, he frowned when he noticed an empty spot in one of his glass door cabinets. The white shoe that had been there yesterday was gone.
"Mom!" Mingyu called out, glancing around his room and searching through his things, hoping the shoe was just tucked away somewhere. "Mom!" he called again when he still couldn't find it.
After a while, Mingyu sensed someone enter his room.
What happened here, Mingyu? Why is your room a mess again? The helper just finished tidying it up," his mom asked as Mingyu continued his search. "And why did you call me?"
"Mom, which helper came to my room? Something important is missing," Mingyu replied slightly panicking. He finally looking at his mother. Despite being middle-aged, she still looked beautiful and had a classy figure. Mingyu probably got his good looks from her.
"What is this important thing? Maybe you just forgot where you put it?" his mother retorted.
"It's..." Mingyu exhaled, considering whether to tell her or not. "...a shoe, a white one. Yesterday it was still inside there." He pointed to the wall-mounted TV cabinet beside the dartboard. "And now it's suddenly gone."
"A white shoe?" his mother asked in confusion. "You have a lot of white shoes, Mingyu. Why not just choose another one? Are you planning to wear it to Sofia's seventeenth birthday party tonight?"
"N—no, it's not my shoe. It was—" he cut himself off, annoyed. "—Nevermind. I don't need to explain it to you. And for your happiness, I've already chosen my outfit for that party, pairing it with Wonwoo Hyung," he told his mother with a sarcastic smile. "And now, just tell me who tidied up my room and where she is now?" Mingyu asked, walking toward the door and passing his mother.
"Jieun Eommonim. I just saw her in the laundry room," Mingyu's mom replied without suspecting anything, as he walked down the corridor toward the stairs.
