chapter seven

Camilla was walking to potions in a hurry , trying to hurriedly shove her books back in her bag. She has lost track of the time while she was working on an essay in the library.

While she was walking like a zombie trying to shove her things back ,she had bumped into something, someone ,all her books fell to the floor in a cluttered mess. A hand caught her shoulder and steadied her before she could meet the same fate as her books. She looked up , profusely apologizing to whoever came to her saving grace but the words died down in her throat .

Ofcourse. Of course it was remus Lupin who she had to bump into.

She snapped out of her daze , remus let go of her hand and bent down to pick up the books that she dropped and handed them back to her with a small smile on his face.

“so ,I take it I'm not the only one running late to class?” remus asks,

“yeah ,um- I lost track of my time ” Camilla responded finally managing to shove her books into her bag. “me too , go in together? It'll make it less awkward ” remus offered. Camilla nodded .

Camilla could already feel the mortification seeping through her veins as she steps into the class with remus besides  her.

“Glad you could make it in time , ms.morrone and mr.lupin” slughorn says with a glare ,she and Lupin quietly made their way to their desk and started on the work. Today they were supposed to brew a potion called the draught of death.yesterday she had done some reading on it as it was said to be very challenging,even for newt level students .she could see why ,the instructions were very precise and she could already see some peoples cauldrons exploding .

Camilla and remus gathered the ingredients required for the potion and started working on it , she had been tasked to cut something while remus started on stirring the other ingredients together , She was trying to cut the sopophorous bean ,while remus was adding a few ingredients and stirring them together. She thought the cutting would be the easiest part of this potion so took the task instead ,but she was clearly wrong as her sopophorous bean was flying everywhere ,and so was the entire classes.

She was trying to cut it , failing miserably. seeing her struggle ,remus took the knife from her. She thankfully handed it off to him shooting him a small smile. She was now adding another ingredient and stirred it ,seven times,anticlockwise.
While waiting for it to simmer for two and half minutes like the textbook instructed ,she decided to take a look around the class to see everyone else struggling. Well everyone else , except one person.Severus Snape thoughtfully looked at the textbook ,scribbled something down in a hurry and crushed it instead of cutting,despite his partners whining which he decided to ignore.

After crushing it ,he added the juice in the cauldron while having a look of content on his face. She was broken out of her very stalkerish tendencies by remus lupin sighing in tiredness, finally being able to manage to get the juice out after wrestling with the bean for a  while. They started to stir it again after mixing all the ingredients and waited for it to be done.

The book said the potion was supposed to be a lilac colour ,but their potion looked a bit more blue .but oh well ,slughorn did say he wasn't expecting a perfect potion. Atleast ,they didn't blow their potion up so she'd consider it good enough.

Professor Slughorn got up ,clapped his  hand to signify that their time was up.
He got around and started walking around checking everyone's potion , giving them smiles that mostly looked like grimaces. He came up to their table and walked away shaking his head he continued until he reached snapes table ,and then his expression changed into a delighted smile and his eyes lit up like Christmas lights as he clapped a hand on snapes shoulder.

“Excellent !” the professor  exclaimed. “You have made the potion perfectly, till now I haven't seen any student perfect it !..” the professor went on to sing praises for the rest of the class.

Snape had a nonchalant look on his face  ,but smirked once he met eyes with james. James rolled his eyes and looked away. Soon ,the class was over ,and everyone made their way out.

Camilla and remus walked out first , soon joined by Sirius , the rest of the marauders,Ellie and Marlene.

“ I'm telling you mate , He cheated! There's no way he brewed that  potion himself.” james exclaimed , annoyed that everyone was praising Snape.

Remus rolled his eyes at his friends statement. “ Or maybe, he's just good at potions?” remus said , shutting his friends conspiracy theories.

“No moony , what james said makes sense!  Besides do you not remember when he blew up his potion back in fourth year?” Sirius exclaimed , coming to James’ defence.

“ Wasn't that because you added a dungbomb in it? ” Camilla questioned raising her eyebrow at his stupid reason.

“Besides, since when did you care about what slughorn thought? Scared you're gonna not be invited to that slugclub thing ? Remus said with a grin ,backing Camilla up.

“Hey! I only did that because he insulted me first !” Sirius replied with a scoff.

“Besides ,I don't need to worry about him not inviting me ,not that I wanna go ,but that man is so invested in my family drama that he already chased me down the other day and invited me like thrice already.“

Slug club was this club that slughorn started , basically it's just lame dinners where slughorn invites elite students and  brags about his former students and where they are now. She wasn't invited ofcourse , but the three marauders were ,well with the exception of peter as he wasn't in newt classes.

“Speak of the devil” james potter said as slughorn was approaching them.

“Hello boys! I expect to see you three at the dinner tonight ! ” the professor
Said with a grin , clapping james shoulder .

“ oh, I don't know if I can make it  professor , I feel a bit under the weather ” Remus said , followed by a very fake cough .The other two looked at him , betrayed.
“ Well ,what  a Shame!” the professor  exclaimed , buying the act.

“ well ,I hope you do get better by the next one then!” he said to remus with a sympathetic smile and walked away  from them.

“You traitor!” Sirius and james exclaimed together .“ Didn't we agree that we will all go ? ” james said with a pout.

“well ,guess you can manage on your own now ” Remus said ,with a cheeky smile.

“ Anyways , Camilla wanna go with me to the dinner?” Sirius asked Camilla with a hopeful expression.

“fuck no.” Camilla said , causing james and the others to start laughing.

“But Camilla......” Sirius continued begging her with a pout as he followed her around.
