The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over Taylor's bedroom. Travis woke up slowly, his mind still filled with the memories of the night before. He turned to see Taylor sleeping peacefully beside him, her face relaxed in slumber.

For a moment, he simply watched her, feeling a surge of affection. He couldn't believe how quickly and deeply he had fallen for her. She was everything he had ever wanted in a partner – kind, talented, and beautiful inside and out.

But as the morning light filled the room, reality began to creep in. Travis knew that their time together was limited, that he would have to return to Kansas City soon for football season. The thought of leaving Taylor behind filled him with a sense of unease.

He gently shook Taylor awake, a sense of sadness tugging at his heart.

"Morning, sleepyhead," he said softly as she blinked awake.

"Morning," Taylor murmured, rubbing her eyes. "What time is it?"

"About 8 AM," Travis said, forcing a smile. "We should probably start getting ready."

Taylor's eyes widened as she remembered their plans for the day. "Right, the brunch with my friends. I completely forgot."

Travis nodded, trying to push aside his worries. "It's okay. We still have time."

As they got ready for the day, Travis couldn't shake the feeling of impending dread. He knew that he would have to address the issue of their inevitable separation soon, but he wasn't sure how to broach the subject.

As they made their way to the brunch spot, Travis tried to focus on enjoying the moment. Taylor chatted animatedly about her friends and what they could expect at the brunch, but Travis found it hard to engage fully. His mind kept drifting to the difficult conversation that lay ahead.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Taylor's friends were already there, waiting eagerly. They greeted Travis warmly, and he did his best to reciprocate, putting on a friendly facade.

The brunch passed in a blur of laughter and conversation. Travis tried to participate as much as he could, but his thoughts kept returning to the looming dilemma. He stole glances at Taylor throughout the meal, marveling at her ability to remain cheerful and carefree despite the weight of the situation.

As the brunch drew to a close, Travis knew that he couldn't put off the conversation any longer. He waited until they were alone, walking back to Taylor's apartment.

"Taylor," he began, his voice hesitant. "Can we talk?"

"Of course," Taylor said, turning to face him. "What's on your mind?"

Travis took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he had to say. "I've been thinking a lot about... about us."

Taylor's brow furrowed in concern. "What about us?"

"It's just..." Travis struggled to find the right words. "I don't know how to say this, but... I have to go back to Kansas City soon. Football season starts in a couple of weeks, and... and I don't know what that means for us."

Taylor's expression softened as she reached out to touch his arm. "Travis, I've been thinking about that too. I know football is a big part of your life, and I don't want to hold you back."

"But I don't want to leave you," Travis said, his voice catching. "I've never felt this way about anyone before, Taylor. I don't want to lose you."

Taylor's eyes filled with tears as she looked at him, her own emotions bubbling to the surface. "I feel the same way, Travis. Being with you has been amazing, and I don't want it to end either."

They stood there for a moment, the weight of their feelings hanging heavy in the air. Travis felt a surge of love and longing, mixed with a sense of helplessness. He wished there was a way to make this work, to find a way for them to be together despite the distance.

"Maybe we can make it work," Taylor said softly, breaking the silence. "Maybe we can find a way to stay connected, even when we're apart."

Travis looked at her, a spark of hope igniting in his chest. "Do you really think so?"

"I do," Taylor said, her voice filled with determination. "We'll make it work, Travis. We'll find a way to stay in each other's lives, no matter what."

Travis felt a sense of relief wash over him, knowing that they were in this together. Despite the challenges ahead, he felt a renewed sense of optimism, a belief that their love could overcome any obstacle.

"Thank you, Taylor," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "Thank you for being so understanding."

"Thank you, Travis," Taylor said, her eyes shining with tears of gratitude. "For everything."

They stood there for a moment longer, wrapped in each other's arms, finding solace in the strength of their bond. As they headed back to Taylor's apartment, Travis knew that they had a tough road ahead of them, but he also knew that they would face it together, hand in hand.
