Icurus had gotten lost again. After all, it's not his fault, to be exact the castle was huge and he was a simple sailor's son who also just happened to be half-siren. Previously he was with Xavier and Ariana but they split up to go look for another company. Ariana went searching for her sister, Icurus wanted to speak to Edward and Xavier decided to go look for snacks even though they just had lunch.

He walked the halls which were empty of any guards, back in Eldoria, when he was in the royal sisters' Palace, there were guards on every corner, heck, there were guards in the harbour as well. But here in Venora, things were very different, for starters half of the population of this place was full of hybrids and even other creatures. Most of them were mages, either they were healers, part of the protectors of the realm or just simple locals who lived here.

He liked this place, he fit in here much better than Eldoria. Yet, most of these creatures and hybrids were fairies and elves they are from the woods and he is a siren, he is from the ocean. The person who he closest related to was Pyrrhus but he didn't like him.

The clamour of a chair violently meeting the floor pierced the silence of the corridor, halting Icurus in his tracks. The voice that followed was unmistakably Edward's, laced with a fury that resonated through the wood of the closed office door.

"It's a prophecy, not just a curse! It's woven into the very fabric of my life, and no amount of coddling or hiding will change what's intended by the fates!" The words, muffled by the barrier of the door, sent a chill through Icurus. He paused, breath held, as he pressed closer to the cold wooden door.

"Why?" Edward demanded, his voice raw with sadness. "Why keep me within these walls? Is this your idea of preparation? Training me for a life of imprisonment?"

Icurus's heart skipped a beat at the revelation, his thoughts racing-'Imprisonment? Edward? But he's the soul of kindness; he wouldn't harm a creature as meek as a fly,' he mused in alarm.

He yearned to hear more, but Edward's voice faded, "I will go to my room." Icurus tensed, the fear of being caught eavesdropping spurring him. He sought cover behind the nearest corner.

Icurus thought he was safe until he heard Edward call his name softly.

"Ah...hey! I was just walking by... you seem upset..."

Edward's appearance was a shadow of his usual vibrancy. His eyes, typically alight with spirit, were now dulled with distress. His elongated ears sagged, and his lips were downturned in despondency. His gaze lingered on the emerald necklace that lay against Icurus's chest.

Icurus grabbed his hand and squeezed it, "if you need someone, I am here" he said looking into his eyes.

Edward smiled at him, "Keep this between us, please. Not a word to Xavier or anyone else"

Icurus hated seeing him this way, he hated seeing anyone unhappy. But he also always kept his promises.

"If that is what you wish..." he slowly let go of Edward's hand.

From the corner of his eye, he saw the office door open.

"I need to get to my bedroom" Edward said leaving him there.

Icurus was standing there, his mind filled with questions. Why would Edward be imprisoned? What had he done? And most importantly, who would be imprisoning him? His gaze fell upon Ernesto and his twin sister as they left the office, both looking downcast. Icurus clenched his fists. 'They must know something.' But then again, Edward had told him not to tell anyone what he had heard, and that must include Edward's older siblings. Icurus wanted to confront Ernesto directly about the matter, but decided against it, both for Edward's sake and because he found Ernesto intimidating.
